Why would you use one of the original Star Wars dumbest story elements to support your point? It's like you added that to hurt your own post, like [i]severely[/i] hurt it.

How is it dumb.

It felt like they came up with that because they wrote themselves into a corner. I do get why they did it, but they executed on it badly and always left me with a bad memory of that scene.
