Someone has no idea how firearms work. There's a reason pistols are strictly last-resort weapons at close quarters IRL combat.
-
Not debating tactics. Only physics. Have some idea how weapons work IRL by the way.

Edited by Inclement Karma: 5/16/2017 2:45:03 PMYeah, that Wikipedia article is sure impressive credentials, all right. Sure. If you had a clue, you'd know--independent of tactics--that the energy of the projectile at the target is only one factor among many. Recoil is also governed by physics, and is one big reason the very large caliber handguns aren't useful in combat. IIRC, the US Army did a combat test of the .44 magnum in Vietnam and found it not useful due to the recoil making more than one accurate shot nearly impossible. And let's not forget that accuracy is a function of physics, governed by barrel length. Tactics are how you use a weapon. It's the physics that make handguns laughable in combat much beyond arm's reach.

Yeah, you took something fun about a Destiny discussion and went off the deep end. Also, went way off point on a silly discussion you weren't part of. So, you're right. I'm wrong. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good looking. I'm not so attractive. Got go now. Good day.
-
All you had to say was that you were joking instead of doubling down on the error.
-
That should have been obvious. Every party has a pooper. Good day again.
-
Not really. A lot of people actually believe that, and think pistols would be great as primary combat weapons.
-
do that for a 7.62 Nato round instead of the 556. since i have 2 .308 semi auto rifles and know what they can do.
-
If the 7.62 low rate of fire archtype had the same rate of fire as the 5.56 mid rate of fire archetype in destiny then you'd have something. Very valid.
-
well your example doesn't take fire rate in consideration. so replace the 5.56 with 7.62 and see what the numbers come out to. i'm curious.
-
Wait are we talking about Destiny or RL. This thread has gone of the rails.
-
well your comparison is based off real life stats, trying to prove how space magic works, so i have no idea how to answer that question. just do a comparison with the .44 mag round with the 7.62 round, just like you did for the 5.56.
-
7.62 × 51 mm NATO Bullet Diameter: .308 in Weight: 175 gr Bullet Velocity: 2,580 ft/s Bullet Energey: 2,586 ft-lbs Yeah. Now you got something.
-
yup, with the 5.56 being close to the .44 mag, i knew the .308 would have better stopping power, plus fantastic range.
-
I have an app for that.
-
K. Give me a few.
-
I'm not so sure real world science applies here, since I'm shooting blue goo from a sniper rifle and it turns into electricity upon impact.
-
True, Kinetic Weapons.
-
Firefly perk, my kinetic weapon causes people to explode but only if I shot them in the head. The math is still good though.
-
Depleted uranium rounds. Check. Your move my friend.😉
-
Outlaw perk, my gun reloads really fast but only if kill someone by shooting them in the head.
-
Adrenaline dump. Check.
-
Reactive Reload, reloading a gun causes it to deal additional for five seconds but only if reloaded immediately after killing someone.
-
Touche well played sir. Checkmate.

Bullets curve through walls because of "Aim Assist".
