I'm interested in Prey but find it hard to cough up $60 for single player games nowadays. Do you think it's worth the price? Or should I wait a bit? I like what I see so far but how long does it take to beat? And is there replayability?

  • You know, games used to be $60 years ago. Even after all the economic down turn and inflation... game makers have tried to make games better and better with the same pricing in the end. We should be fortunate to be spending $60 on anything other than an indie. Thats why costs are covered through dlc and microtrans. Its not always for scummy reasons. I used to get all my games at $30 for a while but if i trust the team i will pay full price in support of them. I like Arkane. I also feel pitty for all the crap prey got for not being another person's prey 2. Now prey. Is it worth $60? My penny saver says no (by default all non multiplayers are $30). Is it a good long game? Certainly. My save says 24 hrs.. but saves dont record going back in another save a llittle. My total time count on my xbox says one day and 14 hrs. That was for my first run. Replayablility? Heck yhea. There is a achievement (split personality) where you play the whole game with alien upgrades and another whole game with only human upgrades. Another achievement for playing with NO upgrades. Not to mention everyone choosing a mixed bag their first time. We are also not considering difficulty. I played on normal for that long. I still need to do my nightmare difficulty run. I will attempt all of these while getting all (5? Endings). Not brave enough to do a "no upgrade" run but i will definitely do a wrench run. Physical upgrades and wrench upgrades should be fun. So yes. There is a bit more than bioshock level of replayability. The world is completely connected. In more ways than I expected when i first played (mind blown first time i saw) so its not linear. Want a mind control build? A necro build? A plain jane wrench jocky? Maybe you want to use powers only? Perhaps become a teleporting ninja that can turn into objects. You choose.
