Pyth counted his bullets, flicking open the chamber of his revolver. He had been left with a full six rounds and he holstered the weapon, adjusting his hat, pondering his escape. The impending dread of the situation they found theirselves in had not seemed to yet impose on the freelance slaves. When would they escape? Would being saved from the jail bind them to work with the Concordat? The android's synthetic mind had already turned alight with plans of how to escape the transit, but decided to escape at a more... advantageous position.
He sat in a seat lining the Concordat Drop Ship, putting his hat over teal blue eyes buzzing with electricity, not due to fatigue but to shut out the rest of the passengers.

Garin plopped down in a seat next to him and let out a sigh of relief. "Glad that's over, eh?" Garin had a smirk on his face and was wearing a pair of aviator glasses with gold rims.
-
"I've been through worse," Pyth croaked, his dexterous cybernetic fingers taking a chrome lighter from within his duster, a cigarette from his back pocket and hit it with a smoldering fire. His index and middle finger brought the smoke to his mouth, here it rested at a slant. "Want one, friend?" The android said in a hushed sigh as he slightly leaned forward, his cowhide hat revealing electric blue eyes that pulsed with life. Veined cobalt fingers pumping with human-imitating hydraulic pistons held the lighter out to Garin with a cigarette resting on its crest.
-
"Sure." He took the cigarette from the man and fished around in his pocket for his own lighter, took a long drag from the cigarette, and sat back in his chair. "Thank you."
-
"All smiles from you? You don't feel tortured or anything?" A female asked from in front of him, and as Garin looked he saw a young looking woman sitting on a seat opposite to him https://imgur.com/ji789Z3 Her armour was mismatched, missing the entire helmet and having only the left armour leg. Her right gauntlet was replaced with what looked like the arm of J'Jaro and her left looked pretty normal. Sitting on her lap was a Snapshot Rifle, belonging to the J'Jaro and on the seat besides her was a sniper rifle
-
"I'm sorry, was I talking to you?" Garin glared at her as he took another puff. "I'm kidding. My name's Garin. And you?" He put out his hand for a handshake.
-
She shook his hand with J'Jaro gauntlet, smiling slightly "I am Magaly. But you can Call Me Maggie, Mags or Ly."
-
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Magaly." His grip was firm but soft, and he smiled as he took another puff of the cigarette. "So, how did you get involved in this mess?"
-
"I used to roll with this outpost calles the Trench. After that failed, I became a queenpin on a world with a large organization. Then I escaped the planet, got caught in Concordant space, ended up here. How about yourself?" She asked, as she moved her hand away
-
"I was hired by the Concordat to take this place out and free the slaves, but as you can see..." He gestured with his hands towards his surroundings. "I was under-equipped and outgunned. Almost died..." He stared off into space with a somber look on his face and sighs.

-
"By myself, with only my swords and my rifle. This'll probably be a long story, so get comfy." Garin adjusted his aviator glasses and extinguished his cigarette. "See it now- my ship soaring the night sky, landing silently about 200 meters out from the base. I creep silently into the base, taking out the guards silently with my blades..." Garin spends about a half an hour telling the story of how he was captured. "And that is my story."
-
"Got pretty damn far, I'll give you that." Magaly said with a chuckle
-
"Damn straight, and I woulda won I had packed enough ammunition." Garin sighed. "I gotta get some sleep though. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you, Magaly. Have a nice evening."
-
"You too Garin. You too." Magaly said with a smile, turning to another member of the Rag tag crew
-
Ah, my friend. 'Tis a good feeling to have a friend here.
Garin stood up as she was about to exit. "Hey, Magaly! Wanna grab a drink?"
-
"No! I don't date!" She yelled with a laugh
Indeed it is
-
"It isn't a date, it's just... a... Yeah, it's a date." He strode over to her. "But why not?"
-
"I don't date. It's really that simple. Unnecessary and complicated really." She said, looking up at him
-
He gave her a skeptical look. "Have you ever tried dating someone? You might find it enjoyable."
-
"I have tried. And it never worked. And it certainly was not enjoyable." Her mood shifted to a slightly darker one, sounding almost morbid
-
"Do you know why?" He looked at her sadly but reassuringly.
-
"You're damn right I know why. And it's not a topic I'm willing to discuss." She looked down at the ground, and smiled before looking back up at him

"Yeah you do that. But hey, maybe one day you'll ask and I'll say yes. You never know, ya know?" She said, leaning against the dropship hull

He turned to look at her and smiled. "Yeah. You never know..."
END OF PART ONE

*rubs hands together*
