You've got to play sneaky or campy with TFC, it's where it shines. If you don't feel bad robbing everyone else's kills then play behind someone and clean up. You'll be surprised how many kills you get with it. In PvE is an absolute monster, you can hit 20+ straight bullets with it, lol.

  • You can go on the offensive with First Curse, but you have to have a firm grip on the core hand cannon techniques (ie. snapshooting, triple tapping, positioning)

Yes I know, but 90% of players can't do that so grave robbing is better, lol.

  • Ninety percent of Guardians cannot do this, because ninety percent of Guardians are always looking for a lazy get rich quick scheme. Hence the rolling meta.

  • True, but using first curse was never a meta and never will be. I use a Parthian Shot, and love the thing so darn much. Only meta I was ever apart of was thorn/felwinters.

  • First Curse, as with every other weapon in Destiny, is only one patch away from being meta.

  • Yeah, if it had crowd control while curse was active, my god, I'd clean up, lol.

  • Hahaha I am not being funny, but crowd control would make First Curse beyond OP! Crowd control would also go against the nature of the the hand cannon - First Curse is a true nuetral hand cannon, a marksmans' tool, and a pocket sniper. Its one and only strength, is the ability of the guardian that weilds it.

  • What would you think of replacing Triple Tap with White Nail? It would still require precision, wouldn't make it a two-tap, and would be amazingly fun in PvE.

  • On paper, whitenail would seem ideal, but in reality, it would make First Curse OP. I can triple tap almost at will, and can easily do so twice in each magazine. With whitenail, I would never need to reload First Curse, ever. Do you think that would balance the hand cannon? As much as I would love that to be the case, common sense tells me that this would give First Curse an unfair advantage. Rather than including whitnail, I would prefer that Bungie buffed/nerfed (depending on which way you look at it), the triple tap window back to what it used to be, before they decided to fiddle about with it. For me personally, the orginal 'tight' triple tap window was as much about shot pacing, as it was about recovering ammunition. If I was hitting window after window, I knew that I was on point precision wise, as you had to fire First Curse almost at fire rate, to sneak all three precion hits through the window. Although it was not the intention, the original triple tap window, was a handy visual cue, which denoted optimal fire rate with First Curse. Of course, it goes without saying, that I would also like a reversal of the draconian damage falloff, which has severely curtailed the effectiveness of First Curse in its 'bread and butter' range.

  • Fair enough. I'm curious however, how has Triple Tap changed from it's original way of working? I came on in March of last year (post Sunbreaker nerf), so I may be unaware of how certain things functioned originally. I also wanted to thank you for your contributions to the conversation. From what I've seen from other topics, you are "Mr. First Curse". The number of kills you have with the weapon are staggering. Like you, I don't really want TFC to be a two-tap gun, and I really love the spirit of the gun, being a high skill, precision tool. What would you think of the Exotic perk reloading after every kill? I'd love to hear your input concerning different ideas. Also, would you be adverse to a friend request? One player I've built a friendship with started over our mutual love of the Sunsinger subclass, so I greatly appreciate kindred spirits.

  • My apologies for the length of time that it took to get back to you. When I talk about the triple tap window, I am talking about the length of time that you have to perform the task (three precision hits) so as to get the perk to activate, and have one round returned to the magazine. Traditionally the length of time was considerably shorter than it is now, which made it rather difficult to activate. Perhaps it was coincidence, perhaps it was intentional, but I soon discovered that the length of the triple tap window, was also close to optimal fire rate for First Curse. Once I understood this I used that window, and it became a fundamental part of the discipline that evolved with this hand cannon. Then in their infinite wisdom, Bungie decided to loosen the window, for reasons unknown. Those that could hit the window, never needed the window changing. At least with hand cannons, triple tap is seen as a useless perk, because the ability to land three precision hits is the stumbling block, and not the length of time it takes to perform them. But, Bungie are the overlords, and we love under their regime. Fortunately, the muscle memory has been hard wired into my mind. The number of kills I have had with First Curse, only indicate how much I have practiced. I would not say more than a quarter were kills in anger, ie. in PvP. When you master this hand cannon, you are not mastering its use, but rather the intricacies of the aim assist function. More than any other hand cannon, aim assist, is an integral part of First Curse, it is the hidden hand that guides everything that you will ever do with this hand cannon. Again, I feel that having a reload after every kill would still be considered OP. Perhaps, if there was a reload after every triple tapped kill, ie. you have to have three headshots, that would be more palatable. Of course, it goes without saying that the triple tap window would have to be reduced, to near fire-rate for First Curse. Finally, I would be more than happy to add you as a freind, feel free to add me at any time. Perhaps some good could come from our collective thoughts and passion for First Curse.
