Here's the difference between Microsoft and Sony:
Microsoft uses its high margin OS and Office business to fund its low margin Xbox business.
Sony uses its low margin PlayStation business to fund its lower margin electronics business.
Tl;dr Sony is in it to win it while Microsoft is in it for shits and giggles.

By revenue, you mean net revenue, i.e. profit. If Microsoft's goal with Xbox was profit, they would have exited the business a long time ago. What that want is marketshare to push Windows in the living room.

The idea is to make profit from sales of games. It's the razors and blades idea. That's why games sold per console matters. In past generations, consoles were sold at a loss.

In past generations. And xb1 consoles were sold at a loss. Ps4 is sold at profit and sells a ton of games. They are the most profitable gaming industry. That's why they hold 52% of the market and Xbox is at 24%

Rumors were the original PS3 was sold at a big loss because of the cell processor and Sony engineered the PS4 to be profitable at launch. Off the shelf components for the win!

Yeah ps3 at launch was horrible lol. But ps4 is one of the top selling consoles of all time now.

I did the same. Now with the Scorpio coming out don't is going to want to bring a new system out that's just as good if not better. I just hope they announce it before I buy a Scorpio this winter so I don't waste my money on the Scorpio and I can get the new ps

I'll wait for the PS5 or whatever Sony calls it. Doesn't seem worth the cost of a new console to play the same games that are on my PS4. It would be hilarious if Sony announced a refreshed PS4 Pro at E3, like the console gets a hardware bump every year and stays the same price like with phones. I think that would be awful for console owners, but funny nonetheless.
