I think you're going to find reaction falls along two different lines. 1. People who are former Halo players or play in the lower half of the Crucible draw generally prefer the longer TTKs. 2. People who aren't Halo players, or tend to play in the upper third of the draw generally hate it. Bottomline, when you play in the top 1/3 of the draw or higher, you were dealing with whole lobbies (back when SBMM was stronger) of players who had mastered the game's movements skills. So---at even a TTK of 0.8 secs----those players had PLENTY of time to escape to safety unless they made some sort of serious mistake. Plus there was plenty of time for the player or his allies to turn the tables on you and strip you of your intial advantage. So the game becomes a boringly predictable exercise in "thumbskill" where there is little or any penalty for STUPID play or losing situational awareness. Conversely, little reward for smart play, and for individually aggressive play. As another poster once said, "I've never had more success at the Crucible, while enjoying it less." Sums my feelings about the current state fo the Crucible up, very nicely.

  • Cod players want the ttk low as possible, halo players want competitive play revolving around team play and ammo and map control

  • You can't have Halo play from a game that has more design elements in common with CoD. Oh, and this isn't Halo.

  • Its not cod either..sandbox team said they want ttk closer to halo, this isint cod it was never supposed to be and it never will be. There are to many elements in this game for perfect balance. You people want primaries to work then just press y or ∆ to switch to them and use them. This game is about team play, flanking, thumbskill and your ability to out gun and out think your opponent. STOP TRYING TO RUIN DESTINY WITH BUFFS AND NERFS AND TRYING TO MAKE IT LOKE COD. ITS NOT A TWITCH SHOOTER. THIS IS BUNGIE NOT INFINTY WARD OR TRIARCH(WHAT EVER THE -blam!- THEY ARE CALLED).
Its not cod either..sandbox team said they want ttk closer to halo
Which is why: 1. The Sandbox team is at-war with the design of their own game. Halo's game play is a FORMULA: No weapon choice. No play style choice. No augmented player abilities. No augmented player mobility. In fact, players that move slowly and predictably. DESTINY HAS NONE OF THOSE DESIGN ELEMENTS THAT MADE HALO WORK. 2. The Sandbox team keeps BREAKING more of the game, the more they try to FORCE the game to play in a way that is incompatible with its design. The game that Bungie designed was one that plays like a combination of Titanfall 2 and Overwatch. (If you want to play Halo.....go play Halo 5. ) A fast paced, MOBA-like game of move-and-countermove. Strategic-and-tactical management of potential mismatches. You cannot force a slow TTK on a game where people are free to choose what weapons they play with. When they use them....and where players move fast and unpredictably. Complain all you want about "twitch shooters". But games like CoD and Titanfall 2 are balanced. Destiny has been nothing more than three years of rotating metas...and two years of special weapon spam because the game's primary weapons have been nerfed to the point where they can no longer keep up with the speed of play. At this point, I can't "ruin" The Crucible. Bungie has already done that themselves. By taking what was a unique and complex MOBA-like shooter....and broken it until it is a sad imitation of another game that is LOOONNG past its glory days. A game that the rest of the gaming industry is trying to move away from. In short, they took a shooter game that had great potential.....and dumbed it down. Sad.

We have one shot weapons that make the TTK just as fast as COD's. Appropriate primary buffs won't ruin anything when we have one shot kill weapons. A lot of primary weapons have been nerfed way too much and cannot compete with the typically used ones. People have to be ignorant to not accept that fact. I prefer to use an Icebreaker as my primary weapon since it has the fastest TTK and readily available ammo! I'd like to be given more reason to use a primary weapon.

  • May I suggest dropping 1-2 special crates per game depending on map size and increase the timer, first player to it gets it, if he's killed then what special ammo he has left gets dropped and so on. But destiny is about team coordination and map control. I'm all for a longer time to kill, I'm all for out shooting a player in a duel. Let destiny be what it was meant to. Its its own genre and bungie is still defining the genre of THE SHARED WORLD SHOOTER with destiny. This is what halo was always meant to be with the very large(for its time) campaign areas, warring factions, and role defining weapons.

Competition isn't an issue that I'm addressing. My focus is the amount of time that a lot of primary weapons take to kill in comparison to special weapons. The special ammo changes don't really change this. I find it too easy to get away with using an Icebreaker for a whole match. Getting enough ammo to use a sidearm for a whole match isn't too difficult either. A lot of primary weapons simply feel too weak to warrant using over special weapons with readily available ammo.
