No, that isn't true. We had an event that heavily mirrored the themes of christmas, but Destiny never celebrated the birth or death of Jesus. I'm not really sure about crimson days, as I wasn't around for it, and it didn't come back this year anyway (hardly a mainstay).
It's not called Christmas. It's not called Valentine's (which they didn't do this year).
They are themed events, in game, that tie up with events in the real world.
The reason they are not called the events that they are in real life is because they would cause a conflict of beliefs and interests across the player base. In order to fulfill a 'pride' event, they would not be able to do this without making it linked to the real world.
It's like you've never played online too. For any event to work, it has to be supported. And, while I admire your enthusiasm, it would be destroyed by 10 year old running about calling people 'f*gs' over PM and all of that nonsense. It's already the default retort for anyone with a low IQ.
Hell, you'll probably draw some out of the woodwork with this post.
It's not because I don't support it, but I want to protect your community from the trolls and immature who would use it as an opportunity so spread their vitriol and hatred.
You are right of course and thank you for thinking about that the fool that would surface but i like to think that most would accept it and be peaceful
