I am not a theist, but I respect your right to share your opinion. I pose a question, how do you have the right to declare how to interpret the Bible? Any piece of literature or any story can be interpreted differently by different individuals. That's a serious flaw in every religion. If a deity wants you to follow a set of rules, then why put it in a book to let it stray from the intended message it is trying to convey? And more so, why would it be written by HUMANS, who have a track record of implementing bias and false facts? He should have put burning words in the sky or something of the sorts. If there is a God, he must be toying with us, or running tests on us. Is he testing loyalty, or just to see how we will deform his rules and twist them around over generations? This is why I can't trust the Bible, nor any literature of any religion. Religious books are also basically circlejerks of that one religion, and allows for no room for an open mind or new ideas. I can't comprehend how people can be such sheep, blind ones at that, following any religious work with little to no evidence (and when there is, it's rather insignificant), or even an organization like NASA, who refuses to drop a splash of truth into the minds of the populace.
And also, when I saw your title, I thought of Robbie Rotten
• The Bible is to be used by humans in general, so that whoever may be saved. There's actually parts in there that say how to interpret the bible, but it was created to guide us from sin, the same as counter acting the works of the devil. It's not a matter of who has the right to interpret it, people were just meant to use it. But pointing that out is a great point. I'm not very educated on other religions, but I doubt many of them have the ability to be interpreted by anyone who understands them. You said God must be playing games with us or he is testing us. The second part is right. As of your last bit, I know, it's surprising to see how many people blindly follow religion, not even knowing what they believe (is that even possible?) Or why. I can honestly say that most that consider themselves Christian don't really live by the bible, even though they claim that's what they should be doing.

  • Well, if we don't have the right to interpret the Bible, then who does? God's answers to our questions are almost never immediate. So, we try our best to interpret it.

I'm not saying you lack that right, but who has the "right" interpretation of it? And if God answers your questions, why is it so shrouded in mystery and lack clarity.. that's a bit contradictory.

  • Well I'm not this guy but I'm still going to answer because there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to this. Nobody really knows. You have to wait for your death to find out who's right. I believe in what I feel teaches the best morals.
