It's sublime. Gather a bunch of ripe figs, preferably with soft undamaged skin so you don't have to peel them. Chuck 'em into a big boiling pot with a bit of water and some sugar. You have to let it do its work slowly, it takes a while. Keep at a somewhat low temperature, stir and add more sugar every so often. The end result is a brown thick jam that doesn't look amazing but tastes fantastic.
