2016 was a great year for shooters. Titanfall is one of my favorite franchises, it's so criminally underrated. Personally, I feel Overwatch deserved it's multiple GOTY awards, but Titanfall 2 was a great game and one of the best shooters in the last decade.

I played the beta for Titanfall 2 (I think it was the beta). It was pretty fun, I enjoyed the multiplayer, and I picked up the controls pretty quickly too. I just never got around to buying it. I'll probably grab it this week.
-
It's 24 bucks for 8 more days, grab it while it's cheap!

Hell no. No multiplayer only game should win GOTY. People should not be rewarding games for having little content When Overwatch released how many modes did it have again? One? Exactly Uncharted 4 beat them all
-
Edited by Johnrocksyuy: 3/5/2017 4:49:37 PMOverwatch won because people feel like it has a superb multiplayer. You don't need single player to be GOTY if the multiplayer is done right
-
The mileage you get out of Overwatch does not come from its abundance of content, it comes from mastering a character, raising your skill rank, and getting to the top. I'm not rewarding a game for selling me less than it needs to be adequate. Overwatch has everything it needs to be a fantastic shooter and fantastic game. The skill ceiling alone is incredible. Uncharted 4 is a great game though, won't lie.

Don't act like that's a special trait Skill ceiling? I've barely touched Overwatch and I've done incredibly well by just picking it up. I've won games in a single move multiple times The only unique thing you've described is the characters and that is not enough for GOTY
You can do the same mastering character in Battleborne, Titanfall 2 (titans), and Paragon
The length of a skill ceiling varies depending on the complexity of the game. Overwatch's is so high because of each character working together and against each other. Not only do you have to master the characters you play, you have to discover when it's appropriate to play them taking in your team composition and the enemy's team composition into account.
You can raise your skill and get to the top in any multiplayer. Don't act like that's a special trait
It is, though. So many shooters take the arcadey route of dumb fun with no skill gap. Call of Duty, Battlefront 2015, etc, are too shallow to have any meaningful skill gap.
Skill ceiling? I've barely touched Overwatch and I've done incredibly well by just picking it up. I've won games in a single move multiple times
"I've won games in a single move multiple times" lmao talking out of your ass. I doubt you've even touched competitive.
The only unique thing you've described is the characters and that is not enough for GOTY
What makes Overwatch unique is not the features within it, but the fact that they all exist in the same sandbox.

That is the biggest piss poor excuse I've seen to defend a content lacking game. You cannot excuse. You cannot use the "you can get all the hours you want out of multiplayer" excuse because you can do that for ANY multiplayer. Skill ceiling Shkill Shceiling, what the -blam!- ever And no I haven't touched competitive. If you had a brain you could infer that since I just said I've barely touched the game. Duh. Either way, I have won matches in single moves before. Please cry some more

You can't just slap a multiplayer onto a disc and charge full price for half of a game. I like Overwatch but you cannot be so blind and biased as to the little content. If you truly think that's ok then you're just a consumerist sheep. It is lacking in some way. CONTENT Oh please, don't act all high and mighty with that tired line. I have played the game you prepubescent -blam!-head. I bought my right to criticize the game when I got it (one sale because there was no way I was paying full price for a multiplayer only game). You don't like it, again, keep crying

If you truly think that's ok then you're just a consumerist sheep. It is lacking in some way. CONTENT
The game doesn't need to have more maps or modes to get more mileage out of it, that's not what it's designed for. It's designed to take up time through your practice and your patience while you master a character or a few characters, and use your skill to reach a high rank.
Oh please, don't act all high and mighty with that tired line. I have played the game you prepubescent -blam!-head.
You have essentially eaten the fries without eating the meat and potatoes of your meal, and you're attempting to judge the quality of the meal as a whole. You're in no position to to judge the longevity of a game you haven't scratched the surface of. Also, you're quite the angry little elf.
I bought my right to criticize the game when I got it (one sale because there was no way I was paying full price for a multiplayer only game).
If you can't see the value in a skill ceiling, then don't buy skill-intensive multiplayer games. As for me and the rest of the Overwatch fans, we've gotten hundreds of hours of fun out of mastering characters, maps, modes, strategies, etc (getting replay value out of the game they way the game's design suggests we were meant to).
You don't like it, again, keep crying
Nothing I've said suggests I'm upset. You, on the other hand, seem to be heavily emotionally invested in this debate. Maybe you need to calm down and count to ten.

-
It is criminally underplayed, yeah. Good thing it's growing though.
-
When numbers Go down that's not growing
-
That is true, it is also unrelated to the trends Titanfall 2 is seeing with sales.
-
Edited by Brindle_Badger: 3/5/2017 2:19:46 AMUnderperforming is the word you're looking for Trends being the massively low sales
-
Edited by Lethenza: 3/5/2017 2:19:54 AMNo, I was talking about the growth of the game
-
Yup I can go grab the sales stats if you want to play this game
-
Edited by Lethenza: 3/5/2017 2:25:10 AMNo need, here you go. Observe the monthly growth for yourself.
-
1.2M copies sold Which is pathetically bad And only 10k on the ps4 severs No wonder it's so cheap at GameStop XD
-
I have no issued in matchmaking at all.
-
It's underperforming to be sure. No denial it's taking in more players every month, though. Word of mouth will end up doing wonders. And it's selling because it's so cheap, not just at GameStop but everywhere. EA just had a massive sale and Titanfall 2 was discounted on all platforms.
-
Word of mouth doing wonders huh Yeah that's not going to happen Sorry to bust your bubble Social media killed that concept The fire sale on tf2 is a testament to respawn trying to salvage whatever they can
-
Overwstch was having a sale too earler. What is your point. They went back up to 59.99 cus they are goty now do they think people will pay full prixe. I will never pay full price for Overwatch.
