I know what you mean. Playing in a tent with sand covering everything. Had a PS2 and small tv at the end of my bunk.

Always cracked me up seeing Navy personnel in a land locked country with no major bodies of water! "Did you lose a bet with God or something to get here???"

Yeah, interesting I'm sure. The Navy decided to farm us out to the other services to alleviate some of the manning shortfalls they had. I enjoyed my time though...it was rewarding and better than sitting on a boat somewhere.

I remember in 2005 we started getting some navy folks to even out deployments. Medics and intel and whatnot. Didn't matter your branch, we all worked as a team. I don't miss the brown and tan of the entire country. I was stationed Hawaii and returning home was such a shock of seeing all the green and life ok the island.
