I see both perspectives. On one hand I see good PR and a nice thing for PC players, buuuut by the same logic there's no reason to buy an Xbox unless you don't wanna build a PC

But that's a good thing, having no reason to currently purchase an Xbox. That means Microsoft has to get competitive, which only benefits the consumer. They get competitive, Sony has to get competitive. Suddenly, consoles quality has improved, prices have gotten better, and the consumer benefits. That's why having AMD and NVIDIA compete is good. NVIDIA successfully releases the 10 series, so AMD reveals a line of high end cards. Because of that, NVIDIA announces the 1080ti, and most likely soon the 11 series GPUs.

Unless Xbox just dies out

That could happen, but it's microsoft. I don't imagine it would be very likely. There will always be the fan boys, and the people staying with friends, and the people that just can't be bothered to switch platforms. Though sales have been very low, the Xbox one scorpio will be the most powerful console on the market, which will most likely aid in stopping them From flopping.

I dont wanna build a pc

There are prebuilts. You could purchase a 150$ dell off Craigslist and shove a 100$ GPU into it and bam. Gaming PC more powerful than consoles

Then use an xbone. I have one so no judgement from me
