I don't think so. They lost that battle a long time ago. There are still nearly twice as many ps4's out there compared to Xbox1's. I think this is an attempt to start fresh, basically a new generation.

PS4 has more sales because it's released in more territories.

That might account for a few additional sales. Not the fact that it's outsold xbox at basically a 2:1 ratio.

Xbone and PS4 have been tieing sales in the US and the Xbone has actually been beating PS4 sales recently.

Yes they have, and yes xbox has outsold ps4 for 5 of the last 6 months (im pretty sure), but xbox can't catch up. It'd have to outsell ps4 by 25 million units just to catch up and that won't happen. Xbox lost this generation to ps4. But that doesn't mean xbox1 wasn't successful 25 million (closer to 30 now I think) units sold is amazing, but the guys at Sony found the secret sauce for this generation.
