It looks like Thermal Vent is activating but it's not registering a Melee damage even though it has to connect to activate Thermal Vent.
Yeah that is horrid. As a Guardian we should be able to depend on our melees.

Thanks for replying and adding that point. I'm determined for this post to gain traction. There is no excuse for Bungie to ignore this issue for nearly a year.

Especially after recently improving Melee hit detection.
