Sadly, right now all we can chalk it up to is bad RNG (I personally have received the boots through a drop twice), but all of this information may be able to help the dev team identify an issue and address it if there is one. Thank you very much for the detailed report on your findings, and I wish you the best of luck in the future.

  • I can no longer chalk this up to bad RNG. What about the guy who has been grinding engrams like crazy and has turned in over 200 since RoI released? That can't just be bad luck. I'm 100% convinced that there is some kind of issue. If you played a game containing a coin flip, how many times would it have to land on heads without you ever seeing tails before you suspected there was an issue? 5, 10, 20? I'm to the point where I truly believe that Transversive Steps cannot drop for me. It's pointless for me to turn in any more exotic leg engrams. Not until I hear that this bug has been fixed. Like most bugs, I'm sure it isn't a simple, cut and dry one. I'm also sure that it only affects certain players. It's these bugs that are the hardest to get attention on. If it was an obvious bug that affected everyone, it would've been addressed by now. Many people told the ones affected by the faction ship bug that it was just bad RNG too... Now we know that is was actually a bug. I have a feeling that this issue will turn out the same way.

  • However in that case it was all due to having a ship drop from one type of faction causing another faction ship not to drop. If that's the same in this case why is it people are getting it to drop while having the other leg exotics? Unfortunately you seem to be grasping at the hope your luck just hasn't run out. • You can't compare the two issues directly like that. My point is that it is probably the same type of issue. I'm a software developer. I have seen many bugs that only affect certain users whose user data satisfies certain conditions which triggers the bug. There is no telling what the condition is. In the case with the faction ships, it was having some other ship drop first. It could be something completely different than that causing this issue. We may never know.

Yea so what would be the condition, since it's a boot engram it would be correct to surmise that that would be a starting point. In the case of the ships it was getting one blocked the other. Any form of problem solving starts with the scientific method, and that's what I'm showing you, that nothing fits the puzzle piece. And as a software designer, you would know that a random number generator, is random. It's very possible to go through your entire life and never get the tranversive steps. With your assumption that after hundreds of engrams and not getting it, that it has to be bugged; then the crux of crota, vex mythoclast, fatebringer, gjallarhorn in year 1, and many more must have all been glitches. Hell, even the ice breaker must be glitched for some people.

  • https://www.random.org/integers/?num=50&min=1&max=7&col=5&base=10&format=html&rnd=new Try running that as many times as you want. I have run it quite a few times in the past few minutes and have never had a number from 1 to 7 not show up. Trust me, after turning in over 50 engrams, I should have seen Transversive Steps at least once.

  • Agreed, I'm in the same boat. My best guess is that I've decrypted 50+ exotic boots on my warlock since ROI dropped and never seen them. Also I've completed the WOTM raid about 20 times and never had them drop from a raid chest!

How would I know? That's why I'm posting this in hopes that it gets passed along to the dev team. When it comes to code, all kinds of small details can cause an issue. Sure, it's easy to explain what caused the issue with the ships now since we've been told what the issue was. Before it was acknowledged as a bug, plenty of people gave those people dealing with the ship issue the same crap you're giving me. The fact that you think that this could be solved without looking at the code or troubleshooting it in a development environment is ridiculous, and what the hell do you mean that you're showing me that nothing fits the puzzle piece? You wouldn't know it if anything did... Yes, as a software developer I understand random number generators. Sure, it is "possible" to never get them, but it's not likely at all. Your comparison to the Crux of Crota, Vex Mythoclast, etc. isn't valid. These are two different kinds of RNG. With the Crux of Crota, there was a certain drop-rate percentage of this one item dropping. I'm not sure what the exact percentage is, but let's just say 5% as an example. That means a 1 out of 20 chance that it drops. You could beat the raid 40 times and never see it. This is very possible with this kind of drop. Same thing for the Nanophoenix. I have completed the raid on hard 27 times, but I'm not complaining that I don't have the ship or complaining that it's bugged. For Fatebringer, even getting a drop at all was RNG. When it was possible to get nothing, nothing was weighted pretty heavy. Now raid bosses drop guaranteed loot. Getting the shotgun, fusion rifle, or boots from Vosik is pretty easy when you're guaranteed to get one of those items each time. I highly doubt that somebody has beaten Vosik 20 times and never gotten the shotgun to drop. The item you get is still RNG (between 3 possible items) but not the drop itself. That's a huge difference. The only difference between the Vosik drop and exotic boot engrams is that there are 7 possible items. Your example would only work for the exotic boot engrams if there was the possibility of it decrypting into nothing and getting nothing happened more often than not. So no, my assumption about exotic boot engrams has nothing to do with the other items you mentioned. Same thing with Ice Breaker. You either get it or you don't and it's not a 50/50 chance. Not getting it far outweighs getting it. With exotic boot engrams, I'm guaranteed to get exotic boots each time. With a 1 in 7 chance, I should have seen the Transversive Steps by now. Like I said in my original post. It's nearly the equivalent of rolling a die 50 times and it never landing on one of the sides. Go ahead, try it. Roll a die 50 times and see if one of the numbers never comes up. It's not very likely. Definitely not after 200 rolls. If you're going to try and throw analogies at me, at least use ones that make sense and are actually, you know, analogies...

  • This shouldn't matter, but what system? I'm on Xbox One and I'm pretty sure that everyone else I've talked to with this issue is also on Xbox. Like I said, it shouldn't matter, but who knows.

  • I definitely am in the same boat on Xbox One.. It's quite outrageous every time getting a new exotic boot engram and seeing it turn into yet another Paragine Greaves.
