Just to clarify, the quest itself is for the regular Y3 Gjallarhorn - the Iron Gjallarhorn was a special bonus item only for those people that pre-ordered ROI.
In order to use the Iron version of Gjallarhorn you have to get the Y3 regular one and also have pre-ordered ROI. If he didn't pre-order ROI then he won't have a license to unlock the Iron version on his console.

i got the iron gally by collectors edition. its the gjallerwing horn you get by pre order, while so does the sparrow, but you can get that for 75 silver dust. he did complete the regular quest and did get the regular gally. also he redeemed his code for the collectors edition on his console

Edited by RedPhoenix HD: 1/26/2017 8:31:00 PMThere is no "collectors edition" - there is just Destiny the Collection ([i]all regular versions of the game and expansions[/i]) or Rise of Iron standalone The Iron Gjallarhorn, Iron Gjallarwing, and the Gjallar Horn (3 items) were all pre-order bonuses if you bought ROI in advance of it being in stores, in which case you either received a code from the retailer, or it just installed as part of your digital purchase.. If he can use the regular Gjallarhorn, but not the Iron version, that is why. He didn't pre-order it so did not get the extra license.

the collection. which still makes no sense. he has the Iron Gally installed on my xbox, but he will have to double check him. and again, i got him the exact same thing i did. and i didn't preorder. and i can use the iron gally just perfectly fine
