It's kills per match divided by deaths per match. If you don't die, it's the same as dying once since you can't divide by zero so 5 kills and 0 deaths would give you 5/1 for a K/D of 5. I don't think I've ever had a game where I died but had zero kills, but I assume it works the other way too, where say you had 0 kills and 5 deaths, it would calculate it as 1/5 and give you a .2 K/D. I'm not sure, but zero kills and zero deaths would most likely give a 0 K/D and not be counted in overall calculations. Edit: As RhinoDon pointed out, giving you a >0 K/D for 0 kills and multiple deaths doesn't make sense, so you get 0.0 in that case.

 • 0 kills and multiple deaths gives you a 0.0 K/D in the end game stats

 • But for overall K/D, does it still count? If you had 10 games played, and managed a 1.0 each game, your character's K/D would be 10/10, so 1.0, but if on your 11th game, you got a 0.0, then your K/D is 10/11 for 0.9. After enough time, if you get a 0.0 game, it's not really going to affect your average, but since the most likely scenario for that 0.0 is joining a game in progress right as it's ending, it would be nice, especially for new players if it didn't count that game towards your total K/D. Obviously, the other possibility would be someone AFK'ing, or actively avoiding playing, but I would hope an AFK'er would get kicked for inactivity, and someone hiding would most likely get found and killed. It's one of those things that's ultimately not that big a deal because it shouldn't happen that often, it's just that since we don't know exactly how they've coded it, it makes me wonder about the way it could work.

 • I would assume so, but evn if it didn't and gave you a 0 K/D but added the match to your overall count, once you get enough games played, it won't matter. I know I don't have nearly as many as a lot of people, but I can go with getting 2.3 for a few games in a row, or I can go .23 for several games, and it doesn't make any real impact on my K/D.

 • Maybe it does then. Ultimately though, it should get lost in the averages of all your games, and not have that big of an impact in the long run, unless it's something that happens on a regular basis.

 • I believe it does. In the example of trials, I was going along just fine, then I got booted from a game. It gave me a 0 kd for that match and brought my overall weekly kd.

 • Just another reason I don't stress over my K/D. I'm stuck in the .8-.85 range, and I'm ok with that. It allows me to mess around and try new things without worrying about whether it works or not :)
