I was into what my dad listened to for a long time: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rush, R.E.M., Marillion. Then I discovered radio (maybe around 14/15) so I was into whatever was hot in the rock/alternative/indie scene at the time: Kaiser Chiefs, Muse, My Chemical Romance, Evanescence, Paramore, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Razorlight, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Blink 1-82, Green Day, System of a Down. I really liked the emo scene but I was never actually an emo. Most of my music was digital, free downloads from shady websites with horrific bitrates lol.
The first band I properly had on obsession over was Disturbed, when I was about 17.
The first album I bought with my own money as soon as it was released was Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters, and that came out in 2011, when I was 18. I owned CDs before that but they were either presents or weren't new releases.
Then I went to uni and all hell broke loose. The entire internet of music + a student with most of the week free time = a crazy amount of experimentation. I remember my Christmas list was about two pages long of CDs.
Nowadays my tastes are all over the place. On one hand I can listen to some extreme Black Metal, on the other hand I got excited when MGMT brought out a new album the other year. And that new Beatles live album is pretty good too.

Even though I was into emo music I never dressed up like them... I just was into the music like you haha. Metal was a big part of my life, bands like korn, slipknot, dimmu borgir and cradle of filth never gonna be out of my heart but a band that I truly love is radiohead. I have been listening to them since I was a kid. I always mention them so I left them out of this post for once haha. I enjoy every try of music now a days according to my mood but I enjoy rock the most... Im planning to visit more concerts to see bands I have never seen like biffy clyro, linkin park etc

Edited by Cultmeister: 1/19/2017 8:18:40 AMI saw Biffy Clyro at Download festival the other year, waiting for Metallica to come on. I was never really into them but they're alright live. Sound a lot heavier. Anthrax are a bit like that. Live they are really good but I really can't get into their studio stuff. Not sure what it is I just don't like the way they mix it I think.
