What exactly about this meta is any worse than metas before? I for one find there to be a lot of options, the only type of weapons that arent represented are the autos

People run around with special as a primary.
-
That will always happen with ohk weapons.
-
Needs to stop.
-
Why they are meant to be powerful. The only way i can think to stop it is to severely limit the amount of ammo you can carry
-
Yes there's too much special ammo. Game has such a long TTK but everyone runs around with OHK cheesy shotguns all game.
-
The sniper meta was the worst.

Edited by Sir Michael: 1/15/2017 9:35:57 AMYou're right in saying that there are more options, but the viability of certain primary archetypes is a problem with the current meta. - High-impact Pulse Rifles kill too slow compared to their faster counter parts. You need to land all headshots for them to be a two-burst kill or they'll end up being a three-burst, like every other archetype other than Grasp's, which can three-burst in the most specific situations (low-armor Guardians, landing all headshots, etc). - Hand Cannons need range perks to be remotely useful in Crucible. This severely cripples the low-impact Hand Cannons the most due to their miniscule base range averaging between 15 and 25; with that in mind, they won't get the benefit of max range that would come with perks like Rifled or Reinforced Barrel like the Ill Will and Palindrome archetypes do. Damage falloff and bloom affect these guns severely if you don't have a range perk. These guns kill pretty fast if you land headshots, but their low range limits them to fighting exclusively in Fusion Rifle range. - Auto rifles, mainly the high-impacts, are borderline useless in competitive play. It would be surprising to see them win against the other primaries. - Scouts are in a perfect place IMO. There's nothing really wrong with them that I can think of. Another problem I can think of is a gun being useless because it rolled with the wrong perks. Some guns, like shotguns, require range perks to be useful, while Pulse Rifles need stability in order to have impressive shot placement at longer ranges. Yes, God Rolls aren't necessary to be great in Crucible, but it can make a huge difference in certain fights. Example: Let's say there's two players using Eyasluna, but one rolled with Rifled Barrel/Luck in the Chamber and the other with Perfect Balance/Hidden Hand. I'd put my money on the Rifled/LitC Hand Cannon due to the extra range extending the point before damage falloff and the fact that range is also tied to how bloom affects the gun, determining if the gun consistently lands shots or if it suffers from "ghost bullets." For LitC, that perk can turn Eyasluna and Ill Will into guaranteed two-headshot kill weapons, which gives them a major edge over all primaries in their intended range given that the perk procs in time.

The balancing could be a little better than it is right now i agree, but making all archetypes equally useable is a hell of a task. There will always be a weapon with a fast ttk that is easier to use than the rest, and everyone will use this weapon and it will be known as the meta. I know because thats very similar to where we are at now. Scouts should be much more prevelant than they are but everyone thinks clever is far and away the best weapon so everyone uses it.
