Seeing as all guardian abilities disintegrate their targets - guardians win by a country mile. X-men are powerful, but only those with non physical abilities would stand a chance. Even then guardians can get resurrected. Pretty sure wolverine wouldn't survive a nova bomb.

If he can survive a nuke then a nova bomb is nothing

  • Wolverine has survived a nuclear explosion. I'm pretty sure a Nova bomb would just tickle his butt hairs.

That would not affect a Titan's armor. It's made of a really durable plastic called plasteel (as in plasteel plating from year 1), therefore it is immune to Magneto's power (unless you're an exo 🙁). Weapons on the other hand...

  • I wouldn't be so sure on that - we don't know of the magnetic properties of guardian gear.

  • Then how would magnetic grenades work if guardian armor was magnetic

  • I think the "magnetic" is less literal and more a description of its function

  • Then they would just be called flux grenades like the hunter stickies wouldn't they

  • It depends on whether you are referring to comic book magneto or film magneto who is much weaker. Secondly relative to modern physics, guardians and their abilities are orders of magnitude more powerful, the light itself can in extreme cases rip time and space apart, next to that magnetism is relatively weak. Guardians sit somewhere between superheroes like Thor and beings like Thanos in terms of power. And don't forget resurrection. Magneto may well be able to stop bullets and shield himself, however guardian bullets may not actually be metal - we know for a fact hard light fires ionised polymer rounds, fusion rifles fire superheated jets of plasma and guardian supers are most certainly not magnetic.

  • maybe magneto loses. but what can guardians do against an overpowered psychic and telepath like jean grey? take a look. http://comicvine.gamespot.com/jean-grey/4005-3552/forums/the-most-powerful-psi-in-the-world-619309/

  • The problem is there is a huge disparity between what we see in comic books and what we see in the films. In the films generally speaking the various superheroes, mutants and beings etc, while their powers are certainly impressive, they are very much grounded in reality and as such have their limits, in avengers 2 hulk versus the hulk buster shows this, tony stark can only hold the hulk for some time and instead knocks him out. The films while fantastical are still very much grounded in reality. This would simply not happen in the comic books as the angrier comic hulk gets, the larger, stronger and more impervious to harm he gets. And that's to say nothing of superman who is literally so outlandishly overpowered they have rewritten the character several times to make him less OP - he can move entire planets and stars for Christ sake (how you could grip a ball of gas is beyond me). The point is that in the comic books "there is always a bigger fish" which dulls any drama and ends up with everything being one shot KOed. To answer your question, I'm going to bring in Oryx, so far the most powerful entity in destiny (not accounting for the darkness or traveller). His ability is to "take" beings who cannot withstand his "will", there are two possible explanations why he cannot take guardians, either the light renders them immune to this or more likely their will is strong enough to resist him for the time being. I suspect it would be the same case with Jean grey/Phoenix vs a guardian. By the time of destiny humans/awoken/exos are at their physical and mental peaks and that's before considering guardians and their abilities. When doing these kinds of comparison I tend to take reality as a kind of "control" point and use the versions of the characters to be compared that are as closely grounded as possible. So in answer to your question, Guardians are exceptionally powerful, somewhat above the grounded versions of characters like Thor, Magneto, Iron Man etc. But below characters like Thanos. Phoenix is in the middle of these two sets as she is considered above her x-men compatriots by a significant margin, and thus would likely prove a match for anywhere between 1 to 3 guardians. Thanos is basically equivalent to Oryx so he's the avengers raid boss.

  • dude. you are so wrong. guardians were made to combat the darkness. jean is enough for a whole army of guardians. what makes you think a guardians super or bullets would even faze thor? he is a divine being not part of the darkness. you are greatly underestimating marvel characters here bro. sure they beat oryx the hive god, but they used mechanics along with help from the light right?

You have completely disregarded my wall of text, anyway long story short, the light is what gives guardians their abilities and we are yet to fully explore those limits. And as for the wolverine nuke point, see my wall of text - consider the film version of wolverine.

Good read man! On the way out of the gym and this here just gave me an intergalactic comic epiphany out of no where. Ha! Just the tought of having 15 Titans against Planet Hulk, makes a comic fan drool like a school girl, but to the question at hand, the X-MEN would be outmatched by the true power of the light. In numbers, Guardians would be like Lionidas and his mighty 300. Only this time, stronger and more dangerous then ever. The only true weaknesses that Guardians seem to have are their dependebilty on their Ghost survivals, light suppression, and weapon dependebility. The Phoenix?(Jean Gray) would be the only X-MEN capable of giving Guardians a run for their glimmer.
