Christian Liberals make less sense to me. Attempting to live with no moral compass or absolute truth is like the least Christian thing you can do.

Exactly! A Christians absolute truth is the bible, and liberals (liberal means free) try to live free of the scriptures. So liberal Christians seem like a contradiction in terms. Not that a liberal can't be a Christian, but many classic liberal stances are contradictory to the bible.
