Bungie's direction since 2010 is a near direct parallel to Rare of the 2000s. You can almost pinpoint the exact moment the big company crushes the soul and creativity of the studio.
Misgivings with the new "hawtness" have been swept under the rug every time they get brought up. I remember the massive shitstorm that broke out when they updated the website with the launch of Destiny. Almost the entire Halo-era community (who remained after the january 2013 update) left on the spot. I suppose sep7agon.net and bungleboards are safe havens and reminders of a simpler time, but those 2 sites and bungie.net's forums are currently pretty desolate and you see no diversity in discussion anymore.
Not to mention the community participation from the staff themselves. I know they've got a lot on their plate, but they don't go above and beyond anymore. Urk listened to the community, Bobcast participated in the memes and Achronos got involved in the Flood banter. Deej, Tetron and Cozmo have just been too clinical in their roles. I know Deej has the excuse of having the misfortune of being involved in the brony/sapphire era and not to mention the backlash of him handling the Charlie and Frank Woods incidents like sloppy piles of shit, but Cozmo had a chance to get involved with a clean slate when he came out of nowhere from Reddit, and Tetron has proven time and again that his vision for the website is to stamp out all the fun he possibly can.
His initial site update was pretty much the end of old bungie as we know it, and every time somebody has attempted to make a Coup replacement in the API group, he updates the site's coding to be completely incompatible with the script forcing us all to go underground, like sorry for trying to give people a bit of aesthetic enjoyment lmao.
Anyway yeah I agree OP, new Bungie is complete ass and it all just seems to be a hate smear from Activision for being a competitor to CoD in the late 00s.

Edited by Suratura: 12/27/2016 2:44:50 PMThe only bungie staff left is the web staff I think. All the coders and animators left it seems. It makes sense that they would if all of their work on Destiny, their vision for it was completely erased. I would love to hear the details of what happened during Craptivision's takeover from one of them now.
