So you are challenging the meta of mainstream science and I respect that, regardless if I agree with your reasoning or not.
However, I will now challenge your own meta:
What practical and applicable function do you see in whether the earth is round or flat? Why is it a big deal functionally?
I say this in similar fashion of Sherlock Holmes not giving a damn about how our solar system is arranged, because there isn't much applicable value in knowing it.

In general though, your question could be asked of pretty much anything that does not serve relatively immediate pragmatic ends. I believe that worthwhile knowledge (or systems of knowledge) start out as an individual passion to understand truth. Not necessarily any specific material truth, but the process of understanding as an end in itself. It is an inspiration of sorts. Imagine those moments in which some fundamental fact or idea becomes clear to you: there is something abstract but real that happens in those moments. Personally, I can compare it to those very early spring days after a dreary winter when you realize that the light is a little brighter, and a faint earthy smell is in the breeze. Imagine the difference between an artist in some factory that paints shoddy beach scenes on tourist trinkets (but that makes some money), with the penniless painter that painstaking watches the waves trying to capture a "perfect" moment. Material science and art share the same goal. They both attempt to bend matter according to a certain ideal, an ideal that is intrinsically human. Ultimately both the artists I mentioned above are starving: but one is dead and the other is not. Science and art also share the same root: passion to understand truth. But science has lost sight of both its root and its goal: and as it sits in flashy laboratories and cutting edge factories seeking material ends for their own sake, it cant help but feel its undeniable glory is also a prison. It doesnt matter if science discerns the material shape of the earth or ultimate reality so long as it fails to understand itself.

Well think about it. If the earth were flat, then NASA and all the governments have been lying to us. NASA's pictures of the earth are all made digitally (you can look that up). Tbh the only real reason to prove the flat earth is a thing is to bust all the governments for lying, and being able to say "I told you so". Other than that, I really don't see any other reason

Ever heard of Tuskegee? Also, I've head the House has passed a bill basically allowing for us to have by another name but in all intents and purposes, a Ministry of Truth to combat news sources and analysts who would dare contradict the narratives pushed by the powers that be.

While the flat earth theory is an interesting topic to discuss, there are much darker lies that could be talked about instead. MK-ULTRA, Chem trails, Large Hadron Collider, and many more jucy topics, just to name a few
