If the popular vote mattered then the campaigns would be organized differently to focus on high populated areas. They played the same game.

We're not a true democracy.

This year it's far, far off, which indicates there is a problem with how the electoral college works. When you have over 2,500,000 more votes than the other guy, but you still lose, that's an indicator that the system is broken.

Shows the system works that big cities don't rule all
That "will of the people" you talk about came mostly from one state. California votes for Clinton totaled more than 3.4 million over trump. There's where a lot of the popular vote is. Every where else they both traded leads equally.

 •
So because they're from California they just don't matter?
No. BECAUSE it's only California it doesn't matter. The arguement is "Clinton won the popular vote!!! The electoral college is out of touch with the American people!!!" California was the source for the big difference in vote count. The left makes it seem like it's country wide. It's just 1 major democrat state with a high population of democrat voters. If the popular vote mattered then campaigns would spend most of their time in California and highly populated cities and forget about the outside counties.

 • Fair point I suppose. It is true that California easily went left in the electoral college which is all they could do. But the popular vote margin is kinda ridiculous.
So because they're from California they just don't matter?
So because trump votes come from deep red states they don't matter?
I never said they don't?
The point is if you're discrediting Cali you have to discredit the reds

 • What? No, every vote from every state matters.
