I'm wholly unaffected by his passing. I don't know a whole lot about Cuba, but I think we'd largely consider it a failure considering its poverty and such. I wonder how much of that failure is due to being cut off from the US, even though it's only 90 miles from us.

I see no evidence to support this. The simple fact is that Cuba had little economic freedom, which is the primary engine for prosperity.

Just if it was a contributing factor.
