I remember when i just assumed liberals were idiots. It was easier to understand things, but ultimately unsatisfying. If you actually want to understand things, you need to actually understand your opponents thought. Not lampoon it, understand it to the point of believing it. I think you'll find its a little more complicated than "those guys are dummies."
