It's not that hard to get shards really. If you have one shard and max glimmer, I recommend to buy a heavy telemetry. Use it, then go to the exotic weapons kiosk and purchase any exotic heavy. Equip each heavy and use about 6 motes to fully fill in the exp. circles. DO NOT PURCHASE THE UPGRADES. As it is not needed because you will get two shards for the price of one.

One tip though is to pick year 2 dragons breath. It takes less motes. 7 with a heavy telem. And you get 3 back. Try to do it when you can buy then upgrade 3-4 back to back for the best efficiency.

Truth only takes 6 so a little better.

Also use 3oC when a weapon engram drops chances are it's a higher ll than the duplicate you have. Shard the lower leveled over for two shards. Been doing this & I've got 50 shards.

You know, it never dawned on me to do that. Thanks for the obvious tip. I'm slapping myself on the head now.

While his is useful, it shouldn't be needed to do this. But until it's 'fixed', this is the next best thing

I've been doing this and also just replacing the new exotics with the previous one. But the lattar sucks because I like using everything and it's less beneficial when gear isn't upgraded. This is why I think my suggestion has merit though..but this community seems to be largely unforgiving and closed minded. I will continue to use these methods but I still believe an exotic shouldn't require a shard when infusing to another exotic. Even if people say that's lazy. :)

Also, just a note, you can switch weapons while you're dead without losing ammo. Can be handy if you're playing in a fire team.

I've never known that to be true..but I'll try it again and see.

It didn't work in the past, but unless I was mistaken about my ammo count, it worked for me the other day.
