The Iron Lord's believed that SIVA was the god and savior of humanity, the free pass to a future of unlimited potential. But it cost them everything: their lives, their honor, their future. They put their faith in material science, thinking that something factual and cutting edge could never fail. Worse, they Believed in They did not understanding it. [u]Yet again, Bungie has masterfully assembled a story that relates to real life in more ways than one. The Iron Lord's chose to follow belief and enthusiasm, not reason and knowledge. As a result SIVA nearly destroyed humanity, and the Iron Lords lost each other. [/u] [b]Like SIVA, science is a belief system that deceives people with a false sense of meaning and confidence. It can do impressive things, and like SIVA it was created to be a tool. Nothing more. However, once science began to be accepted by the mainstream society and education systems, it became religious belief. [i]For example, absolutely no proof exists that earth is round, yet people use scientific belief to justify the idea that a ball earth could move through space without any energy source maintaining its motion. Earth just moves forward magically. [/i][u]Science is Religion.[/u] People today are like the Iron Lords: they think something material can give their lives meaning. But they don't realize that believing in science, instead of understanding it, can turn science into an uncontrollable force that warps truth and makes bad things happen.
