The New New Hotness era was spectacular. The Halo 3 forum was full of activity, it's users often receiving a GBITH3F (Get Back In The Halo 3 Forum) from their Zanzabarbarian (Halo 2 era users) elders should they venture out of bounds. The Flood was at it's peak IMO around 2009-2012, as holidays were created and glorious shitposts were made. Then came the Reach forum, and with it a new generation that even started a full-scale war with the Flood.
The CoC wasn't nearly as PC as it is today, but it wasn't unrestricted either. For example, religious and political topics were banned at the time. Not to mention forum titles. Incentives for members to play nice and be active posters as to climb in rank.
