While picking up blues is important and definitly required for the game, they do nor grant any points sadly. They simply deny your opponent points.
But if you need to choose between picking up a Red and a Blue before being killed? Go Red. 1-2 beats 0-1.

Then my destiny is bugged, because any time I pick up a blue, I get +1.

+1 to your personal score, same with the kills it's confirmed kills and it's to your score, that way people can really see who's playing well without having to take into account blue pickups...
