I've said the same thing, many people here don't grasp this concept though. Armor "set bonuses" are abundant in pretty much every MMO (not calling Destiny an MMO) so the concept isn't new. Moreover, I think they should have 2/3/4/5 PC bonuses and not just full set bonuses. I also believe weapons should be included as part of the sets.
Full set bonuses would be the strongest, of course. Something along the lines of...
ToO Gear/Weapons
2 PC +2 Agility
3 PC +2 Armor
4 PC +2 Recovery
5 PC - Killing blows increase enemies revival timer by 8 seconds.
WoTM Gear/Weapons
2 PC +2 Agility
3 PC +2 Agility
4 PC +2 Recovery
5 PC - Increase Power while holding SIVA Charges/Scorch Canons.
Basically, this theme above. It would allow you to mix and match to make your own unique builds (ie. 2 PC ToO gear and 3 PC WoTM gear for max agility) or give incentive to not even run an exotic. If you want that revival penalty bonus then you may have to forego your exotic armor or weapon. Either way, THERE WOULD BE CHOICES TO MAKE, that matter.
I know this won't come to Destiny, but I certainly hope it is a part of Destiny 2.

these are good, but I don't think bungie can break down the coding that far to implement this, they cant even separate modes.
-
The bad thing about giving armor agility and recovery perks with that gear would be like op af 4 pieces of that gear on top of the felwinters artifact would literally make you the tankiest mofo out there not just in pve but pve as well if you stack your gear just right on different classes with the felwinters artifact you can survive a titan smash so what do you think that would do to crucible with another added stat booster
-
Thanks for the input man but I have to say I think these perks would be OP in which case people would strive to wearing a certain few gear sets which then has an effect of individuality and variety... I genuinely can't see a downside to giving players the option for gear sets but they must not be too OP... And it would have to keep a level playing field with players who don't want to wear full gear sets and people can't say its penalizing other players who wish to mix and match as It would obviously not be mandatory... players would be sacrificing exotic perks &/or rolls on mix and match gear they have sought after so it clearly would not be OP...

I kind of said the same thing in another comment. Obviously any 5 PC bonus would have to be balanced.
-
Because that's what we need, everyone looking exactly the same.
-
Have you ever played Diablo 3? ANyway Lets say I like the Helm and arms AR and SHotty from Trials. and the chest boots, artifact and ghost from raid. I could use them all and get 2 4 set bonuses and still look cool .
-
I'm not stupid, I get the concept, I just think that incentivising uniformity is...gross.
-
Except most guardians ALREADY look the same. It'd be no different than it is now, or was before now.
-
Do you have statistics for that? Everyone I see wears wildly different gear. Days of iron armor is popular now, but i see it mixed with wotm armor and various exotics all the time.
-
Uhm There is barely any...
-
Perhaps you miss the part where you could mix and match to make 2/3/4 PC sets. There are actually a lot ways they could deal with making appearances EVEN MORE diverse than they are now.
-
Incentivising uniformity in any regard is dumber than a sack of cabal sh/t. Guardians in y1 have already proven that no matter how small the incentive, they'll take that over aesthetics. It's pathetic that this community can't be trusted not to use only elemental primaries.
-
I wouldn't consider elemental primaries as a "small" incentive, especially in the days of kick to orbit NF's, when they were so popular. I think that comparison is quite different than what we're talking about here. In regards to uniformity.. I don't draw the link that you are referring to, to be honest. Obviously, if a 5 PC set is that desired, that everyone has to wear it, then it shouldn't be in the game. The suggestions aren't to be, add this 5 PC bonus that is a must have, end all be all. There has to be balance. On top of that, adding sets bonuses to the game would actually CREATE DIVERSITY in how we PLAY THE GAME, cosmetics aside. Imagine 2/3/4 PC bonuses all for armor, well you just made a tank. Same with agility, recovery, etc. Cosmetics.. like I said there are many ways to get past this. The way the game currently operates is not diversified, whatsoever. One way, which they should absolutely allow, is to let us infuse stats or styles into gear.
-
What we need is a diablo 3 style trans-mog system, and some decent set gear. Bam, there you go, everyone can look how they want and still get the bonuses they like. It ain't rocket science but that other kid just doesn't get it.
