Or maybe ar's should be more varied and are taking up the place where hc's should be...
What are your exact problems with cannons? Please be logical and fair with a response. Especially considering Destiny is one of the only games of it's kind that utilizes them as a primary firearm, and that they're completely integral to my experience in the game

I don't have a problem with them. I have a problem with how Bungie is using them. Hand Cannons should literally have no range. These things were meant for snipers when they got into a close ranged fight, but people are using these as normal primaries and just shoot across map.
-
Wait. Why should they have no range? Where is it written that hc's should behave in such a way, or that they are a sniper's backup plan? Not pulling a realism card or anything on how much range a high powered, precision handgun can potentially have (which is substantial). Though, this is a game. We have choice between different types of weapons for style just as much as functionality. Not to mention, hc's behave differently than any other semi auto, giving us more combat diversity. The solution is to buff the combat effectiveness of ar's. And honestly I would like hc's brought back closer to what they were in earlier y1. Lots of range, solid impact, high recoil, paced shot, face eaters.

Hand cannons are pistols, they belong in the same group as sidearms, they should only have a close range be used for close combat, not striking the same distance as a sniper rifle
-
Why? You guys keep on making these statements and I keep on responding the same way. Why do they have to be classified the same a sidearms? Because you say so? And even at their peak, I personally never felt that there was a problem with their range but, that's just my opinion. Maybe instead of lessening the range on guns, they should rework their map design and give snipers and scout weapons even more range to compensate.
-
Because they're both pistols! So should be in the same group, a slow fire, high damage hand cannon, or a high fire, low damage pistol! It's simple really!

Edited by The Fighting Lion: 9/24/2016 11:33:26 PMOkay. Then, by that logic, auto rifles, pulse (burst-fire) rifles, scout (semi-auto dmr) rifles and snipers should all be combined into a single class then.....because they're all rifles, just with different firing behaviour and specifications. Does that work for you? Simple...yes. That doesn't mean that its the way it should be presented..
-
Your just trying to be difficult! We both know those weapons are long, mid and close range. Auto and pulse rifles could be the same class, maybe with a switch for burst mode
-
Hand Cannons are still easy to use
-
I'm failing to see any legitimate point you have to make. Not trying to be an ass, just sayin. Easy as compared to what? The other primaries? Under what conditions? Because, truly, this is where the skill gap comes in. If you're not great with landing headshots and pacing your shots correctly, all the while being at the appropriate range, hc's are arguably the hardest weapon class to work with and definitely wouldn't be considered op

Sorry, I was in the middle of a game when I typed that. I mean hand cannons are just weird, I mean they are a lot of different weapons types in one. They have the range of a pulse (sometimes scout), really high damage, and their rate of fire is a bit fast. I know it has recoil but the fact that recoil goes back to where the scope was before is kinda dumb. I played 3 games of supremacy, almost everyone was using hand cannons. They dominate the crucible and they almost always have.
-
They don't have the range you're talking about. The rof is pointless, as if you're firing at their max fire rate, you will miss most of your shots. As is the case if you fire out of their effective range. More missed shots with diminished dmg. People are primarily using hc's in supremacy the same reason they use shotguns. Because of it's close quarters combat. Hand cannons have not always ruled. Besides the different AR and pulse metas, the fact that scouts have always been strong, not to mention the usage of special weapons. Even during the thorn/tlw/hawkmoon era, I destroyed people with other weapon choices, simply by outplaying them

Just saying man, hand cannons are too weird to be balanced correctly, someone is always going to complain about them.
