Boring terrain, lame enemies, only one weapon, not great combat
Perfect controls, fun dungeon challenges, great platforming, well made map when it's not just sand

Personally I would switch all of those from bad except only 1 weapon, and even then the 4 ammo types provide plenty of variety. The extreme enemy variety when it comes to different cores, the terrain looks amazing and provides lots of great puzzles, and the combat is extremely dynamic and can get very complex later with matching damage/core types (i do agree though that combat in the overworld isn't as great as in dungeons, sometimes it feels completely unfair as well).

I should have phrased it more specifically. The enemy variety is great, their AI is pretty good, I just find them aesthetically lame and conceptually uninteresting. Like I would have been a lot more into the game if they went a route with like lost planet type enemies. It kind of goes into my dislike of the story concept as well but I'm sure some like it. I would have liked if they mixed it up with some natural alien life forms on the planet that you could come across fighting with the robots too or something. Same with the map. Initially I loved it, graphically it's pretty awesome I like how they did the sand and everything but all buildings and structures have the same exact look, and everything is either sand or crystal caves. It's like someone used halo 3 forge to make everything- very functional and cool but the same and boring aesthetically (talking buildings and structures). I like how the sandstorms change the map tho. I haven't gotten that far I don't think but I'm starting to tire with the current scenery with nothing really changing. I also think there is a lot of walking and big huge open space between the really well made map design which is fine going forward but back tracking makes it kind of a pain- later in the game they should let you get a vehicle or something to explore more quickly. And fast travel feels almost useless because I could walk there in the amount of time it takes to load haha. While these are complaints I think in a way these elements do help the retro feel of the game. I'm still having a lot of fun with it. I haven't played a game like this in awhile so it's pretty fun and I'm enjoying myself. Just pointing out what could have made it even better imo. I do think the game struggles in the combat department tho. No way to change your weapon means you have to fight the same style and way throughout the whole game. Like throw in a melee 'color' at least!

Pretty sure there is more than one weapon you can build...
-
Which is? Maybe I haven't gotten that far but I think the rifle is all
-
I've gotten blueprints for more weapons
-
Can you give an example of another type of gun? Like does it shoot like a shotgun? Or single shot? Etc
-
I'm pretty sure it was a spider bot weapon bp so I was most likely wrong
-
I don't know haven't crafted it yet m I'm only 6 hours in. I'm trying to divide my time between xenoverse and recore

You can swap the cores of the bots. Makes there attacks different.
