I feel like they(Regressives) show their true colors when somebody who they believe is on their side, strays from their narrative.

I didn't say you hated them, but opposition of equality for gay people is direct proof, that the GOP at the minimum, thinks they're not equal. At worst, they down right hate them.

I oppose it on the grounds that the state should forfeit its power over marriage entirely, same-sex marriage included.

I don't think the parties ideologies itself despises gay people. That's just illogical. Are there individuals that hate gays? I'm sure. But individuals do not define an ideology. The Republican platform does not oppose gay rights itself, it opposes government intervention as a whole. Obama bypassing congress to pass a law making gay marriage legal was an overstep of his power, from the conservative point of view. Many Christians do not outright [i]hate[/i] gays, to throw such a heavy term around is pretty lofty. Christianity teaches to love everybody the same, despite their beliefs. Now, if we are critiquing the platform, and not the individuals, then Christianity is a large part of it. So I do not understand how you connect that Christianity, which teaches to love thy neighbor, also outright hates gays. Disagreeing with their lifestyle does not inherently mean hate. Parading this around as fact seems foolish. If we turn this around to the left, we see how quickly this logic crumbles. BLM is left leaning. Many BLM members outright hate whites. That's a fact. That means the Democratic Party hates whites. Take this as it is, but living in a conservative area, I have not met a single person who hates gays. Go ask Milo Yiannopoulos how a gay person can be conservative. I'm sure he could give a much better answer than either one of us ever could.
