It's called virtue signalling. One of the most common tactics used on the internet.
Why not just make some right wing friends? I find debates with people who already agree with me to be quite boring...
I should know, I'm a conservative and my best friend in high school was a socialist! I've never had such good and informative debates in my entire life!

When I told one of my friends I was voting for Trump (he was a Bernbot), he started jumping around screaming about how I was a horrible bigot and how I was supporting Hitler The next day, the 2 other Bernbots that were with me at the time swore allegiance to God Emperor Trump because they understood how insane the left was becoming

Exact reason I joined the debate team. It's fun to have to argue a point that you may not agree with, or even one that you do. You get to learn why people believe certain things, and it's all in good fun.

I have quite a few actually. It gets frustrating sometimes; especially with trans rights.
