The "what if" is best here.
What if god does exist? Will you go to heaven and your soul live a great eternal paradise, or go to hell and live in a river of fire for eternity.
What if religion is fake and nothing happens? Well you have nothing to worry about.
Not saying to choose either or which religion to believe. Just do what you think it is right. But would it hurt you physically to appease your loved ones to attend church and put some actual belief in it?
Best wishes.

So what about Ghosts let's talk about them.
-
Firstly, the bible does not state there is an actual hell where people will live for a eternity, thats a false doctrine made to scare people back in the day, that doesnt work anymore. Secondly the belief has to come from themselves and not to appease others. Only he/she and god knows whats in their heart and he doesnt want someone to forcefully worship if there is no faith. It is like telling someone wanting to move on with another job to stay because their boss likes them. OP needs to do what they feel is right to them and not appease others.

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
-
They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, Hence eternal destruction. The bible does state of hell but it's not where one will go to suffer. How loving is God if he would send the wicked to suffer for eternity? He is loving in a sense he is giving everyone an opportunity to repent. But his patience does have a limit. Once the time is up those that choose their own path will be destroyed along with Satan. Not to live among with devil for eternity suffering, both parties will end up being destroyed

You just typed something from the bible about hell...
-
Yes, the bible states of hell, but it's not the hell everyone thinks it is, the common hell that is depicted famously with a devil and a pitchfork
-
That depiction isn't meant to be taken literally :P
