Holy crap just realized this about the vex

One of the meanings of the word vexed is to have an internal conflict, so think of the vex they are one mind whose sub divisions have conflicting views (see the worshippers of the black heart and the military divisions) again with bungie cleverly naming things. *100 replies edit*

      • The Vex are operating in the same way that Rasputin is. The war mind is running scenarios to find a way to survive/win the war against the darkness. The Vex are doing the same thing. The only difference is that the Vex put the scenarios into practice for real world testing against their enemies. That's why you see different approaches from the Vex. But they all answer to one mind somewhere in the universe. All fight for the same end goal.

Except the Vex don't conflict with other subdivisions at all. The are a singular collective mind spread across many frames. The Vex search for what they dub an "emperor to all outcomes." This means they simulate every single possible scenario, and they act in some way to ensure that any of these possible chain of events end in Vex victory, or at least their continued survival. Because they are preparing for every scenario possible they must prepare just as many responses and project to fulfill each particular victory condition. The Vault of Glass and Black Garden are two such projects based upon information learned by Quria during his war with Oryx. They are not in a state competition but cooperation. They pursue different paths to the same goal so if either path ends up being the "correct" scenario the Vex as a whole win.

        • You mention the Vex and proceed to give a definition of the word vexed.... when vex is itself a word. Confusing? Anyway, VEX actually means to cause confusion or internal conflict. This seems much more in line with their race their your spinmetal hat theory.

            • None of the Vex have conflicting views. There are no military divisions, just certain models programmed for different forms of construction. All Vex worship the Heart. Why did you think otherwise?

                  • Oryx turned them against each other by folding them in wounds (cuts) in reality.
Verse 4:10 — An Emperor For All Outcomes Oryx rushed home and read from the Tablets of Ruin. He put some of the Vex into wounds, to be taken by the power of the Deep. Thus he turned the Vex against each other. Quria manifested a range of tactics, but none of them were adaptive. Oryx crushed all the Vex in his throne.
• The part that confuses me about the vex is why weren't they attacking us during the golden age? We were researching them but they weren't shooting us like they do now. Could the encounter with crota have occurred sometime between now and then? They seem to have changed behavior in that time

The Vex are vexed because Guardians are vexing.
