I'm just waiting for them to change xur so we can choose how much of an item we want to buy instead of long pressing each and every time.
You know why heavy ammo is a long press and motes of light are a quick tap?
Equip your spinfoil hat
because ranking up takes waaay longer with motes of light, heavy ammo is the smarter buy but they'd rather you waste your time and play longer. So they made it tapping for motes because that's faster than long pressing despite the actual payout. It's almost like they don't expect people to use math to figure out what gives rep faster, and it's heavy by a longshot
For the love of all that is good in this world!

How is heavy synth faster than motes?

Edited by Grim6I9: 8/27/2016 5:58:56 AMIt takes 5 motes for 100 rep right? That's 2 coins for 1 mote, so 10 coins for 100 rep. It takes one coin for 3 heavy ammo. That's 75 rep. 2 strange coins worth of heavy ammo gets you more rep (150rep) than 10 strange coins worth of motes. (100rep) In the long run you only need 33 strange coins to rank up only using heavy ammo. You need a few hundred to rank up only on bought motes of light.

But normal motes that you dont buy from xur are faster then heavy
-
Edited by Grim6I9: 8/27/2016 6:04:40 AMThat's not the point of the post ,the point is xur and the other vendors should have an option to purchase in bulk. There's no reason why motes, which are more expensive than heavy ammo, should be a tap and heavy ammo is a long press. It's designed to deceive and waste time.

Edited by wolfsierra117: 8/27/2016 6:23:17 AMMost things in destiny are there to deceive and waste time. Its bungies way to lengthen the grind, make something seem better, when its acctualy worse

Way worse :/ hopefully they'll change it in RoI but I don't think they will unless a ruckus is made about it. Even if they just changed it so we can tap to buy heavy instead of long pressing I'd be happy. It takes forever as it is now.

True, i bought a load at one point, took ages. Now i only buy 3 of coins, as its easier.
-
Oh cool, i never buy motes from xur so I've never noticed the math

A few months back I got bored and decided to do the math and then it just sort of hit me that they programmed it in like that on purpose. They're counting on people being impatient and buying motes to rank up since it's physically faster to buy them but they don't yield as much rep, so they count on players grinding for more coins to use on motes. Let's be honest here, buying heavy ammo is tedious as hell.
