Through the means of becoming a lich, yes, you would prepare your body through magic and create a soul ancor carved into your flesh and then when you die your soul is trapped in the body and posses' it similar to how demons posses people. Though their are better and less painful ways of aquiring immortality. [spoiler]my prefered method is CRISPR gene modding and using it to reverse damage caused by ageing, it can also be used to give yourself super-human abilities. Like increased healing, stamuna, strength, intelect, reactivness, reflexes, speed, etc. . . This will also give these traits to your children as well. Also means you dont have to un-live with being a rotten corpse for all time.[/spoiler]

In that case i recomend mechromany, sort of like necro mancy but with metal/machines,etc. . . And instead create a robot vessel for you to transfer your soul into, effectivley the same thing as a lich but you have a sick robot body. Would also allow you to connect with other machines, you would basicly become an AI. Its sort of like magi-science in that alot of it is understanding runes, ley-lines, mana grids, and soul curcuitry so that the metal can handle/contain your soul without "burning up"

Transferring ones conscious into a cyborg body might not be science fiction soon.

The trouble with that is that I've seen 'ghost in the shell' and know all too well what happens when we integrate with machines. Plus I'm looking forward to some kind of terminator style apocalypse scenario so I can kick some metal ass! It would be slightly hypocritical of me to partake in said ass kickery if I was myself a robot!
