A large amount of game hosting is done peer to peer in Destiny - meaning you aren't "unsynched" to a single server location that is causing any such issues. If you had no issues, and they started occurring lately - something changed in your network, somewhere (network here meaning a very broad description of everything between your console and the Internet at large). The first best step to take, is to power cycle all of your hardware - console, modem, router, anything else. Then, give the network troubleshooting guide a good read over: https://www.bungie.net/en/Support/Troubleshoot?oid=12915 If none of this seems to help, I'd give your ISP a call, to troubleshoot possible hardware issues (if you are using rented network hardware), cable line issues, or anything else that may be going on, on their end.

  • In case you weren't sure (not being rude). Clearing the cache on xbox one and making sure my modem and router had current firmware requires power cycling. I'm not sure if it's possible for a mac address to have latency with a server, but I have done everything listed and my side is good. Alone by myself either on nightfall or challenge this still occurs. It's easy to pass of an issue like this to ISP or uneducated networking, but I assure you I have neither of those issues. I'm also fairly certain 8/10 times this is the case, but what about us 20%? A case needs to be made. Again I can pinpoint the time of the issue (not on a calender) but to a specific event. It was immediately after the boot to orbit.

  • So..... No help then? I know about the p2p. I also stated my current network stats, speeds, setup and troubleshooting. With those stats I shouldn't have a significant issue that started around 2 weeks ago. I have no need to contact my ISP with fantastic speeds as listed. When I go into challenge of elders solo and it does what my post stated, then this is a bungie issue. There is no other gamer with me for p2p and I'm running the network exactly as stated in the Bungie guide. While gaming I have a couple programs that can monitor my network stats. Occasionally I'll start them up (which takes no bandwidth) and it shows EVERYTHING with my Internet and networking is great. So, again, this means its server side. Now, take this issue and add p2p for PvP... It's no wonder my kd went from 2-3 (with occasional 4s) down to a 0.8 I think the tech teams should investigate the many reports of increased latency since the Beaver hot fix. I'm not sure if this is what affected me or not, but I know it has many other people.

  • I know you want an answer from Bungie's side but I figured I'd add some other things you can try on your end... Do you know what a traceroute is? You could try running a persistent traceroute while you play Destiny. I've helped some other folks who found out that their modem's signal level (actual upstream/downstream value on the modem, not speed/bandwidth) was so close to the edge of acceptable that playing destiny pushed it outside the safe range. You wouldn't notice this without running tests while playing the game. Worth a shot. Good luck!

  • Now that's something I hadn't thought of. I occasionally monitor download, upload, ping and packet loss and everything has been superb, but haven't done a traceroute. I have a family member that's a network engineer. I'll see if he can talk me through it. Even if it doesn't work it's nice to hear from someone who doesn't just give the standard response "read the guide". Thank you!

  • Hmm, if you've been monitoring ping and packet loss while you play, that would usually show the same results as what I was suggesting. It's theoretically possible that the specific route your traffic is taking across the internet has a congested node, but that's virtually impossible to determine without knowing the IP addresses of Bungie's servers (good luck with THAT lol). Traceroute is still worth a try in case it's a problem on your ISP's edge network. Depending on the target you were using for your ping tests (and subsequent on the traceroute too) that kind of problem might not show up on those. I hate to ask, but are you on wifi by any chance? I know it's a crappy suggestion, but I've seen cases where someone's connection tanks because a new wifi network went up on the same channel and started causing interference

  • I'll still give it a go and get my cousin involved. My Internet is bifurcated at point of entry from drop line with higher signal dedicated 15 feet to my arris surfboard modem to my Nighthawk R7000 router to my Xbox one (running cat6). My son has his on WiFi and has no issues. We can both run at the same time. I test frequently it never gets worse than 85 down, 18up, 12 ms ping and 0% packet loss.
