DS2 is garbage in the pvp aspect. You will experience just how shitty the hit boxes are and how the region cross-play option doesn't do anything.
This is the only souls game I played that I experienced a modder in pvp. Dude was literally throwing a stream of corrosive urns at me, even during the backstab animation. It took a group of me and three other people to kill him and guess what? He's still not banned!
I've played all the games and got all the achievements. Check my steam profile "hellknightinflames". The dark souls casuals here will wildly praise this game without giving any examples to back it up.
P.s. Sorry you spent $40 on this trash. I got it for $15 on a sale and I still feel kind of ripped off.

it's better than dark 3's pvp in pretty much every way. phantom range is the only issue i have with it, coming from someone who thinks that dark 2 is arguably the worst in the series

I have 1000s of hours in the series and and more than 13 characters on 360 ds1 alone. But I guess I'm a filthy souls casual because I don't just bash a game for not being exactly like the ones before it, or solely based on the pvp meta. It's true the pvp has hit box issues (-blam!-ing spears), and modders were a problem but that has been true in literally every souls game (that vanilla ds3 estoc and dark sword), people have been teleporting behind each other for ohko backstabs since demons souls. As far as systems go, it was the first one where they made it much easier to get into duels with other people solely focused on pvp, and easier to coop with specific people as well. Sure it's hard to beat the adrenanline of being invaded right at that worst moment but its still nice to have options. Edit: for the record I am including demons souls and bloodborne as "souls games".

I'm not huhe with PvP, but I can tell just from the NPC invasions the hitboxes are pretty broken... I'm sad I spent $40 on it but oh well. $20 would have been a fair price for me no doubt.

** Shrug** I loved it, but then again I don't like the Souls PVP. It's terrible in general.
