It's the best of the series. So yes you should buy it.

  • Best pvp balance? Dark 2 Best world design? Dark 1 Best atmosphere? Dark 1/Bloodborne Best lore? Dark 1/Bloodborne Best bosses? Bloodborne Best enemy design? Bloodborne Worst PvP? Dark 3 Dark 2 being the best is debatable at best. Bloodborne and Dark 1 outclass it in pretty much every way in terms of PvE, and while Dark 2's pvp is more balanced, many do prefer Dark 1's pvp for several other reasons (soul memory was a big one)

  • Not sure if you are serious or not because normally it's the most hated one ever, but honestly I almost feel the same way. By far my favorite in the Souls Series and I've played them all. Was so disappointed with what the replaced Power Stancing with as well as removing the Bone Fists.

  • 100% serious. Dark souls 2 is the best one and I'm glad to see someone else agree. Everyone just has a hate boner since Miyazaki didn't make the game even though dark souls 3 has no improvements on the formula. At least dark souls 2 made something different from 1 and blood borne.

  • It's the best to me. It has the most viable PvP and PvE weapons. The games pace, being slower than dark souls three, feels a lot better to me. Plus in dark souls 2 you can power wield weapons. You can use two ultra great swords and swing them both in conjunction. It's by far the best thing in any dark souls game, and it's a damn shame that it was removed in dark souls 3.

  • I remember watching a Twitch stream as we approached the release of Dark Souls III and saw a guy doing that with two UGS. Was very disappointed when I wasn't able to do that in 3. So I'm looking forward to the elements for sure. Adjusting to the pace and game itself may be a bit of a challenge, but I do want to experience Dark Souls 2 regardless. What's a good weapon for a strength build? Early on and then end game?

  • Late response but one of my favorite weapoms ever in ds2, my "old faithful" is simply called greatsword. Oh and anything blunt wrecks shit in that game, its OP as -blam!-, seriously the mace, club, large clu, etc etc all amazing in pve (though so are dual -blam!-irs and almost anything with the right stats)

  • Yeah, I've been using the club so far. :P Can't wait for dual greatswords!

Powerstance club +L2 = win. I find the greatswords wide swings and general moveset perfect for going through zones, and the clubs just straight wreck bosses. Luckily they realize just how many weapons and builds there are and since they let you respec, titanite is way more abundant than in ds1, especially slabs

  • Awesome. =) Yeah, Greatswords are probably my favorite type of weapon, honestly.

  • Well the weapon called "greatsword" is actually an UGS lol. Its basically Gut's Sword from berserk and may or may not be used in all of my berserk roleplay builds.

  • Berserk is/was an old anime that started in the 80s/early 90s (cant remember). Miyazaki has said on several occasions it heavily inspired demons/dark souls. As for the greatsword, I can tell you exactly where to get a free one, but idk if that a spoiler for you, also you could just google it lol

  • Bronson actually told you earlier it seems, but its in a house full of monsters near the top of no man's wharf, one chest is a greatsword the left one I think, the other is a trap chest so careful lol

  • You can light it at any fire source (usually there is a prompt, you'll have to toggle it at a bonfire) it'll take up your offhand slot until you two hand, switch offhands, etc. Eveey torch yoi pick up adds 5 minutes to your overall timer

  • Luckily I just arrived in this area. No wonder that name seemed familiar, I read his response earlier but apparently didn't give it as much thought as I should have.

  • You get the drangleic great sword along with the drangleic armor set after defeating the pursuer in the forest of fallen Giants. That ones a pretty good start. Then for the end game I power wielded two greatswords (that's all they're know by) they're commonly dropped from the guards in drangleic castle but you can also get one from a chest in No Mans Wharf, which is like the 3rd area of the game.
