They buffed Mercy in the wrong way. Her healing never was the issue; it was her survivability. She is the ONLY healer that can not defend herself while healing. She has the exact same amount of health as the others, but can't fight while healing. That puts her at a massive disadvantage. They either need to give her more health or a method of self-defense while healing.

She isn't meant to defend herself. If she's in a bind she can run away to another teammate. That's what her glide is for.

Then that design choice immediately puts her at a massive disadvantage as opposed to every other Support. There isn't a reason to use her over Lucio, Ana, or Zenyatta. Yes, Mercy can fly to her teammates, BUT that requires to have a teammate nearby who is also a fairly decent distance away so she isn't instantly killed. Furthermore, this also requires that teammate to defend Mercy and anyone who has played Overwatch knows how poorly people defend their Supports.

Edited by metaleaf: 8/19/2016 1:17:10 AMMercy's main selling point (IMO) is her resurection. If you trade with the enemy in an engagement (say each team took out 3 players each it becomes 3v3) then mercy ressurects it becomes a 6v3. As long as you can stay alive and your teammates are decent mercy can be used pretty effectively.

In a perfect scenario, I would agree. But if the enemy has any sense, they would target the Mercy first (in my experience, this is always the case). I have a different buff in mind, since you don't like that one. What if, while she is healing someone, she heals herself as well?

Well the reason mercy hasn't been the most viable recently is because of zenyatta's discord orb making her extremely vulnerable from all enemies. With that receiving a nerf hopefully mercy will see her place in the meta again. No one will ever be happy no matter how balanced the game is.

They wouldn't give her a method of self defense, and the fact that she can only heal or only damage is a big part of her kit. More health I wouldn't be opposed to, or even make her health Regan faster. Though the squishiness is something I doubt they would ever change.

I'm not asking for her to launch nukes at the enemies; I just want her to be able to survive without being entirely dependent on nearby teammates. Mercy should NOT be squishy if she can't both heal and damage at the same time. She needs something; anything! Her lack of survivability is the big-ass gate keeping her off of the competitive field.
