You do realize that the rest of the game drops significantly in value as soon as it becomes essentially obsolete right? By incentivizing potential customers like this they sell far more copies. Sure they get that stuff really cheap, but did they get to experience it for real like we did? No.

Edited by wolfsierra117: 8/15/2016 5:40:42 PMSo by that logic, why arent the collectors edition items free? And if they had done the honest thing of announcing that a complete edition was on the way, i would have waited

Because they're special bonuses for people that are interested in them. And if you would have waited I'll do you a solid, don't buy RoI it's going to be way cheaper in a year when destiny 2 comes out. Sure you won't get to explore it at its peak and finding groups to do the events like raid and archon forge will be harder to find but hey you got the game cheaper.

I'm not a Bungie employee nor a market insider, so don't take my word for gospel, but usually what happens to collector's editions or various exclusive items is that they normally stay at their starting price so long as they're marketable. In this case we are talking about digital items so there is never really a need to move any stock because there is no physical goods, my best guess is that's once Rise of Iron is released, the collector's edition items will no longer be available, but Bungie and Activision have been very weird about their business decisions so I can't even be sure about that.
