Anything dogmatic is not worth it in my opinion. It ruins morality by turning it into rules.

This is why I ruled out Judaism. Islam however is built off of just a couple core principle values, with the rest being "Hadiths" or simply suggestions based off of the life of the Prophet Muhammed. Christianity follows along the same line as Judaism but with much greater freedom. However I would say that the rules of either are generally beneficial to societal cohesion. While legalistic and extreme or hardcore fundamental view points constrict with rules.

I don't think any form of that kind of blind acceptance is worth it, to be honest. It's cold. I don't think faith is a virtue and I have no idea how the majority of us came to see it as such. I can't speak for Islam as I haven't read into that enough. Yet. Christianity however, I'll never understand why vicarious redemption, why shoving responsibility and punishment onto someone else is a good thing. The very core of it is already distorting things.

Blind acceptance of rules? I agree no one should blindly accept anything, however the if in the event that a society can agree that a rule is beneficial, we should have no issue following it without having to read into it deeply. Islam's Pillars are based off of basically two things. Devotion to God through established daily worship, self-reflection through fasting and pilgrimage, and then devotion to the fellow man through zakat(charity) and through teaching peace similarly to Christianity. To me, you can't self reflect without opening your eyes. Christianity does have some problems that even I, a long time follower, have come to realize. However what you're stating is a problem many Christians have. They view the death of God's supposed son as the price payed for all sins, and thus think they're basically free to do whatever. They think "sure it's bad" but think it's ok to just pray for forgiveness after and it's all alright. So I see what you mean by the type of pushing off of responsibility there is.

I just never understood how so many people could be ok with the idea of someone else suffering and dying for what they see as their flaws. I would never ask that of anyone. I don't want anyone to pay for my "mistakes" except me. If someone chooses to do something in the name of something I've done, that's on them.

For many, and even to me, the idea that the creator of the universe would die for our flaws is a wonderful idea. However the flaw that's bugging me is how the Trinity isn't really three deities but is somehow, according to everyone. It makes no sense at all.

  • I just think it's externalizing responsibility. I'd never ask anyone to do something like that and I'd feel terrible if try did.

I completely understand. And as I said it's an issue I've noticed of Christians. It's not just the principle, but that supposed Christians use that to commit actions of wrong all because responsibility is shifted
