Sony were smoking out Microsoft. They probably got wind that M$ were upto something, and put out some vague specs to see what cards M$ had. M$ being who they are, and still smarting from the last time that Sony pulled this trick on them, duly took the bait. Neo will be some sort of PS4 slim model. Now that Sony know what the next console from M$ will be, they can take the time to kill off whatever M$ has to offer. Who cares if it releases six to eight months later, Sony just need to start the hype train rolling, just before the release of Scorpio, and M$ will have fallen for the Sony tricks two times in a row. Sony want to Bury M$, there is no way one God's green earth that they will ever allow M$ to release a console, more powerful than any Playstation.

  • Neo will have improved specs, they're releasing it with VR in mind. Sony don't need a more powerful console than Microsoft, they already have the majority of sales. Exclusive games are the biggest selling point for a console, especially during a mid cycle refresh. Microsoft can't compete with Sony, when it comes to exclusive quantity. Sony own a lot more development studio's, can take more chances with new IP's. The Scorpio will boost sales for Microsoft, they needed something to entice people to purchase an xbox. Native 4K is their selling point, price of the console must be realistic. I'd expect the Neo to run all future games at 1080p, 60fps for the next four year's. That will entice the hardcore player base, while keeping the current player base happy. It should also reduce the price of the original PS4.
