Bungie bring thorn back to its former glory seriously and before you forum guys call foul, you salty obsessed people get a relic in rise of iron to reduce burn damage plus all those new Rise of iron weapons. I feel no hatred toward this weapon even when killed by it. Skill is not everything. The fun factor is what rules my destiny.
edit: So many salty souls you all just can't accept a solution that is not nerfing something. You guys can never be satisfied unless all weapons are nerf guns aka balanced? Bungie will surely give you that if you ask. how about some other ideas?
edit 2: Thorn was destiny's poster child with the hunter in early destiny promotions it deserves more praise in its sound and design than salt. Its one of the most unique weapons that destiny has to offer if not one of the most lore rich. Hate is unnecessary and unwanted. Things come and go and thorn is coming back no mater how you feel. Its a going to spice things up again and thats a GOOD THING.

-
F*ck, just buff the burn and reduce rate of fire. Done.
-
Fun factor and thorn dont go together
-
It does with me. fun factor=any weapon that has an crazy effects or perks when you take someone down or are in the process of.
-
Yeah its just the thing that noone else is having fun when getting rekt by an op gun
-
Edited by Mizo: 8/7/2016 7:50:12 AMCalls Thorn OP when you can kill the same time with a Eyasluna.
-
Thats such a stupid argument
-
Edited by kurokazerikiri97: 8/6/2016 11:43:37 AMThorn kills like any other gun except for its epic burn so why is it so special in the must be hated category? It makes no sense to me at all. Other guns wreck too so is it because thorn give the player advantages over other non thorn users? Is having a advantage over someone a bad thing in competition? if you are racing up a hill with many other people and you gain a extra advantage would you take it? Seek every legitimate advantage given. Life is not fair and we try to push absolute fairness on our game rules, make it more realistic and gameplay becomes more interesting and less linear. If everything was fair in this game it would get boring really quick.
-
That depends o what the advantage is. As for thron I would never take that advantage. Its cheap and op. At least it was thank god
-
Or it can stay nerfed and I don't have to use that relic
-
Doubt it will stay nerfed forever. Nothing ever stays nerfed forever....in this game which is why I love it.
-
One thing should not be the answer to everything and players shouldn't be forced to use a certain item. Thorn was annoying to deal with, Thorn being dethroned was one of the best balancing changes made by Bungie.
-
Nothing wrong with in game counter for Thorn and not some random nerf hammer that ruins weapons in PvE due to ludicrous linkage to PvP. Heck make a PvP game mode with no exotics I don't care as long as everything has a counter like weapons or relics that is NOT the bandwagon nerf hammer. solutions like the relics are good don't call it forced its a choice. Anyway I am sure this community will find some other weapon to complain about thats killing them too effectively like the Siva exotics because heaven for fend people come up with weapons that kill guardians in style or too quickly. This community will never be satisfied will it lol.

Putting Thorn back to the way it was just breaks the crucible once again. You don't seem to understand that. It doesn't matter whether or not that artifact is in the game. Thorn is currently a 3 headshot or 4 body shot kill like many hand cannons. Give Thorn back its original burn and it becomes King of the hand cannons once again. The artifact changes nothing.
-
You ever use it in PvE? And you're right, Skill isn't everything, which is why people rage about titan skating and wambo combo and nova bomb and fist of panic and fusion grenades and lightning grenades and skip grenades and all that other stuff. And as for Thorn, you're right skill isn't everything, back before it's first nerf... skill wasn't anything at all.

Edited by kurokazerikiri97: 8/5/2016 9:36:05 PMIndeed I use thorn in PvE alot in fact its gotten the most use compared to my other exotics and the most kills. And by Pve I mean strikes, missions, patrol. thanks for the logical comment

Edited by kurokazerikiri97: 8/5/2016 10:30:32 PMFor the confusion. Thorns former glory is when bungie first gave it nine shots and had burn damage at 5 ticks of 7 poison damage and screen effects. that was an improvement that it sorely needed with its previous reload speed and burn it was not as thorny. Even though it is difficult I still use it now due to my strong passion for my first exotic.

Edited by Forgotten: 8/5/2016 7:10:33 PMYou do know "the skilled" can do the same thing to you and better right? At least, more often that is.
-
Skill is great don't get me wrong but imagine a HoW Thorn average player vs a skilled white hadcannon user in Pvp. The "skilled" player should be able to out smart and kill the average thorn guy with his white handcannon but the dps and speed of thorn would win. Skill can take you far but good weapon damage is key to winning a fight not skill alone with whatever weapon in the slot. so no I do not think the skilled could do any better more often unless they use strong weapons. But a truly skilled person could win with every weapon no matter the rarity. A simple rock can be a deadly weapon in the hands of a master. Name one epic player who is skilled enough to win in pvp with any rarity weapon and get great KD? weapon damage and perks equal skill in destiny. if I am wrong awesome I stand corrected but if I am right skill is an illusion to weapon power thus skill is non existent.

Edited by Forgotten: 8/7/2016 5:01:14 AM1) Not sure if you are trying to discredit me (or skilled player in all FPS in general) but if you are you've only proven my point with what you have written. 2) If skill is non-existent there isn't a skill gap, there is indeed a skill gap (otherwise every statistic on a bell-shaped curve would have 99% of players at the 50th percentile) so you are wrong because thats not how the data is, although assuming it wasn't would be obvious. Its written in your own words fyi, 2a. "so no I do not think the skilled could do any better more often unless they use strong weapons. But a truly skilled person could win with every weapon no matter the rarity." <---contradiction 1. 2b. + "a truly skilled person could win with every weapon no matter the rarity. A simple rock can be a deadly weapon in the hands of a master." AND " Name one epic player who is skilled enough to win in pvp with any rarity weapon and get great KD? weapon damage and perks equal skill in destiny. " 2c. Anyone in the top 1% in any FPS is able to do this first part, based on destiny's active crucible players 1% is thousands of people. Also, the second part contradicts part 2, you can flip flop them and its still contradictory. 3) I'm Pretty sure you just want to get better at the game yourself(kinda obvious to me). When you are, you won't need to write paragraphs that try to sound nice but have no point(seen this hundreds of times before literally). No offence of course but you basically are begging me to analyze you with what you are written, it beckons to me "Please pick apart everything i say". If you had a point you'd have been able to write it in a few straightforward sentences(and you would've have even made this thread). Is this explanation satisfactory for you yet?
-
No disrespect toward anyone . Good response I enjoy the back and forth. I just wanted a detailed response back and you delivered. Slight confusion on point 2c. are they the players whole can can a have a good KD with only white weapons? As it seems weapon power (in this game at least) is a large factor in "skill" not just the aptitude of the player.
-
Edited by Forgotten: 8/8/2016 7:05:55 PMWeapon perks in this game are a large factor in weapon performance but not individual player skill as a whole. The weapon doesn't make the player, the player makes the player. This is true in any game. And i could give mathematical examples all day but you will still believe that a single item given to a noob will allow that noob to beat any expert with the same item(which is your explaination so far by the way).
-
Edited by kurokazerikiri97: 8/8/2016 8:39:58 PMYou are ignoring my previous question. Can expert guardians have a good KD with only common gear(white) vs exotic & legendary gear guardians? This only pertains to PvP in destiny, and destiny PvP specifically. That is unanswered by your response posts.
-
The answer to your question is yes. They can but its not necessary obviously.
-
Thank you thats awesome to know. have a good day.
-
Yeah bring it back to to its pre altered form, ya know with that slow ass reload and shit
