Guardians do nothing blindly, they destroy forces that destroyed us, thats all there is, if the speaker told a guardian to start killing residents of the city, do you really think they would do it?

 • Osiris seems to think we might
But your curiosity was voracious— How much of a Guardian's personality and memories were true? How much had been fabricated by their Ghost? Did Guardians share particular personality traits— a willingness to yield to authority, a tendency to do anything anyone asked for the promise of uncertain reward, a blind knight-errant mentality? Had the Traveler manufactured all of you as living weapons?
• Thats an unfair point, no way to prove it unless the ghost or traveler somehow admits to it We are guardians We defend the city from things that would see it destroyed Does what we were before the collapse really matter?

 • It's not what we were, it's what we've become that Osiris questions. If the speaker said that Darkness had taken root in the City, that they threatened the Tower, how many Guardians would actually question that? That is what Osiris is questioning. Let's look at it from the Fallen perspective
Always remember that we came to this star in hope. And remember that we were denied! Remember the City of the Death of Children, the City That Docks, which claimed for itself the Great Machine that might have saved us. Remember the City that even now sends its ghouls to murder our Primes, starve our ether, and leave our young to die gasping. Curse that City and its name. The curse is just.
Doesn't really paint us in a very good light does it?

 • It'd be a better point for them if they didn't butcher us to reclaim their great machine.

 • So that makes it ok to kill their children does it? As i said, we do not know what happened in the earliest days and who fired first. There is a difference between defence and actively destroying. The later is what Guardians do.

 • They are pirates who currently control a lot of our territory. They have attacked the Last City numerous times, killed pilgrims who were en route to safety, and cannot be trusted, as seen with the Queen. Now if they want to sit their asses down, stop being barbaric scum, and ask for forgiveness and help, I'll give them a hand up. But you can be damn sure I'd still keep a hand on my gun too.

 • As I have stated, it is unknown who fired the first shot. They came here with hope. It is possible they attempted diplomacy. To them, we are child murderers, and you think they are the ones who should apologize? The Queen attacked them first, so of course they will take revenge. Trust doesn't come into it. Anyone who is forced to serve will attempt to escape.

 • No, perhaps the Traveler has engineered us somehow or influenced us to fight for the Light, without understand or even questioning why, or whether it is right or wrong. Just one of the reasons Osiris was exiled.
not that I believe this, just raising a point
You dont need to be told its right to slay beings that have killed billions of us Or the hive, who have killed many trillions of beings across the universe

 • Two sides to every story... We really do not know what happened when the Fallen first arrived. We don't know if they tried diplomacy, whether they attacked first, or whether we did. Same for Cabal. Who fired the first shot? Guardian or Cabal? It's unknown.

 • To be fair, the cabal displayed militaristic tendencies from when they first arrived on Phobos. They launched a full offensive on Mars, but at first encountered no meaningful resistance. However, the point is that they did come here as conquerers, just with no enemy to fight initially.

 • No, they are a scouting force, not a conquering force. Let me refer you to Ghost Fragment: Cabal 3
“That’s a job for an elite unit. Not a few scout legions bogged down in attrition war. We should wait until — ”
• The crimson days grimoire card proves it was cabal, and regardless of that, the ghost says they destroy planets just for getting in their way And it was likely the fallen because we have the traveler

 • That doesn't really prove anything. As the listeners point out
“Wait, I thought I’d heard this story before, but it was about two Guardians and the Hive?” “No it wasn’t. It was about the Vault of Glass.”
Having the Traveller is no indication that they fired the first shot.

 • "Let me tell you the story of when the guardians first encountered the cabal" Word for word from the crimson days card And theres no way to prove anything with the fallen right now, so theres no point in arguing for us or them

 • Yes, and then read the end. The same story has been used for the Hive and for the Vault of glass.
“Wait, I thought I’d heard this story before, but it was about two Guardians and the Hive?” “No it wasn’t. It was about the Vault of Glass.”
word for word from the crimson days card.

 • But we didnt even have a choice in the matter. Also, considering you point about killing those that kill us, we don't have to do it for the Traveler. The Trinary Star cult hates the Traveler, but I don't think theu sit on their bums all day. Tevis Larson also became rogue but he still roamed the frontier and such. It seems all the Guardians who have questioned whether or not they have a choice have left the Tower/City, and I wonder why that is the case.

 • But we did. Ghost says he tried resurrecting a person in the colony ship pod before he found us. He didn't though because that person chose to stay in the afterlife.

 • Thats one example. We didnt have a choice and neither did many Guardians

 • But doesn't that instance imply that Ghost has to get permission first. Unless there's a Grimoire card that says otherwise.

 • Honestly i think that particular one may have been an odd case. Its never mentioned anywhere that Guardians refuse to rise. Or else it would have been more common i think

 • Well, what makes a Ghost pick a guardian in the first place? Could there be like some kind of standard? The body has to be relatively intact I guess, but what else?

 • The body would have decayed a long time ago Our Ghost was looking for us since the Collapse and that was over 200/300 years ago, and we would have died some time before then I think Ghosts look for brave heroes, warriors, basically anybody who would fit in a little boy's super hero book. You have to be brave, strong, willing to fight, willing to stand up against the Darkness, and probably already have proven this in your previous life. I dont know how the Ghosts would know this but thry can probably sense how much good/Light you have in you. Thats just my guess I dont remember seeing it defined anywhere

 • If guardians were given a choice upon ressurection as to whether they wanted to be guardians or not, there would likely be a lot less guardians I said we defend ourselves, I didnt say we do it for the traveler, the vanguard does it for the city, because if we didnt exist, humanity (exos and awoken included) wouldnt exist everyone questions their existence, rubbing it in the speakers face however, is a whole other story
