I'm gonna be honest here read the manga as well as it's sequel Tokyo ghoul: RE it's a lot better than the anime was. I usually try not to discriminate between manga and anime but it's a clear fact.
[spoiler]"Kaneki" dies in the first manga in the fight against Arima... He get's destroyed by him with little to no competition[/spoiler]
